Shadow - Umbra
« on: March 26, 2022, 09:05:15 AM »
On the one year anniversary of my last solo I bring you the longest GTA V solo montage ever made. This started as a passion project and grew into something so much bigger. With the help of Zlesh we managed to make something truly unforgettable. Hope you enjoy watching this just as much as I enjoyed hitting the stunts and seeing the edit come together!

Super impressive work Shadow and Zlesh! I don't fully know how this compares to everything that released since I disappeared (check the 'Introduce Yourself' section if you don't know why), because I haven't seen many stunt videos in the meantime (I'll hopefully be back in the summer!), but this is probably the best GTA V solo I have seen, well done!

Nice mix of big stunts and grand creative spots, with captivating editing by Zlesh (especially that last shot)! I just think that while your best stunts were highly impressive and highly creative, I think some stunts lacked the wow factor that normally makes you stand out. It's totally valid to have fun making a 20 minute video like this, but I personally think selecting your best stunts for a 10-12 minute version would have been best, where every stunt was substantially different, like the best films where every moment feels vital. I also think that while some stunts wouldn't be realistic to land without wallclimbs, I'm sure that some would be possible without them. Nonetheless this was awesome, and I'm happy I watched it!

My favourite stunts were the Weazel landing (4:40), Cliffhanger ramp to satellite dish ramp to tower precision (17:53), hospital bump to grind to Beacon precision (3:01), stairs bump to gap to grind to motel combo (6:38), paleto bay double bump to tree precision (13:41), Dominator wallride to ramp to dam precision (5:08), Arcadius bump to wallride to double grind (18:46), desert wallride to gap grind to precision (20:36), multi ramp to exhaust grind to precision (19:44), and the Rocket Voltic combo to mountain antennna precision (20:56) - it was slightly difficult to see though! I'm surprised I didn't lose a single stunt, somehow I think I have only lost one of my major GTA V stunts since I disappeared (I landed Zeeb's original finisher of ELEVEN in 2016 without wallclimbs, by the way no hard feelings to Evolve/Zeeb about whatever happened with that)! :D

I'm happy to see you still pushing standards forward, it helps me stay motivated to keep pushing the limits when I come back! Keep it up man, you are definitely one of my favourite GTA V stunters! :)

Commented on youtube already so I'll just give a list of my favourite stunts:

- The Futo ramp to precision at 2:31
- The hospital grind to precision at 3:01
- The bump to grind to precision at 3:35
- The Weazel top landing at 4:45
- The dominator stunt right after to the dam
- The ramp through the gap to grind to that Shuffle motel sign landing at 6:46
- The combo at 7:11. Had a look around for spots using those stairs but never really found anything worth doing but this certainly is!
- The grind combo at 7:51 with the 90 degree turn
- Doing Slayer's idea but then driving backwards haha
- The car stunt to the tree at 10:42
- The combo at 11:04
- The double ramp to tree at 13:56
- The ramp to bump to grind to antenna tower thing landing at 15:36
- The combo at 16:03 was very nice
- The satellite dish combo to the top precision at 17:56
- The small thingy to grind at 18:36
- The Arcadius wallride to double grind combo
- Don't know what the bike is but that combo at 19:47
- Yet another nice combo at 20:08
- That small but probably annoying grind at 20:27
- The cool Enduro line right after, didn't expect to see another precision
- And the finisher, great mood to end the video with. Wish it would just fade to black and then give the video a separate credits section but it's a minor thing.

But ye overall 22 minutes of great stunts! I didn't really care for 4 stunts in total which were the two go-kart stunts, the quad bike to tree and the glitchy wall climb to grind at 12:25 because that just looks a bit wonky. But given the amount of stunts it's not exactly a long list :neen:

Probably my favourite V video combined with the editing and the song selection

I say it again, it's one of the best solos in gta v, 22 minutes full of creativity and dedication, accompanied with a amazing edit by Zlesh, good job!

Honestly just tried to have as much fun as possible. Tried to not just make a regular video where every clip is huge. And rather try weird and funny stunts. Happy that you liked it  :D

Yeah i can see what you mean with the go kart stunts and the wallclimb spot. I just loved trying them and they didn't fit in any other video i was making so i was like fuck it. Ill just throw them in here to fill the gaps xd And your favorite clips are basically the same as mine. Always makes me happy to see people liked them too

Already responded on youtube but I'll say this here. If you are interested in watching some videos and catching up on what's been going on I could try to put together a little playlist of videos I think have stood out. Lmk if you'd like that and ill get on it.  ;D

Great job Shadow and Zlesh! I think the song variety was lacking, but the stunts were nice and varied. Looking forward to see more from you!

Music is always the hardest since it's so opinionated. I just usually go with stuff I like listening to and music that the editor feels comfortable editing with. And you'll definitely see more  ;)
