Best .avi render settings?

Guys i'm trying to make mkv video for the best quality, i use daffy's matroska x264 tutorial but first of all you have to render video with .avi format but there are so many templates for the render.which one is the best for .avi?

Just make a new template 30fps 1920x1080 using Lagarith Codec and disable audio.

Daffy's x264 tutorial is outdated af and very inconvenient. Idk why you people are still using it when h265/HEVC & VP9 are already a simple to use thing.
