No video in vegas

Sup I tried to mess around with vegas (v8) and it seems like I can't get any video in. I tried mp4 and avi and it only adds audio but no video. I tried few different codecs. I'm on win8.1. How do I fix it?

I had this problem once on win7, installed bunch of codecs (K-lite codec pack I guess, but not sure) and it suddenly started working.
Btw. Sony Vegas 8 always seemed a bit unstable for me

Not the same. It's not that I can't see the clip in the preview window. When I drag a clip to vegas it only creates an audio track but no video track. Like it doesn't see it.

Also I've found that deleting/renaming compoundplug folder might help.

Worked for avi not for mp4. Still great progress so thanks.

K-lite codec pack can fix it
i got that problem with avi but with K-lite i have fixed
