Sony Vegas 8 won't load AVI
« on: October 24, 2015, 01:00:25 PM »
Hey guys. I have a fresh Sony Vegas 8 32-bit install (os: win 8.1 64-bit) and if I try to import AVI, it only imports its audio. I've installed the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack, MPEG-4 codecs, QuickTime, tried changing vegas80.exe compatibility, running as admin but nothing helped. Please help!

Thanks in advance!

I had the same problem but in 9.0, I had to use an avi to mpg program. I dont like newer versions D:

I just render the clips to .wmv in Movie Maker.

There's a lot of codecs that uses the .avi container that Vegas doesn't decode, the best way around it is to simply re-render it using VirtualDub and a lossless codec like Lagarith or Huffyuv. Don't listen to the other bullshit options mentioned here as they severely degrade quality.

Yeah thanks man but I somehow already managed to make the Fraps AVI work with vegas. :)
Installed a lot of codecs, rebooted PC and bam, done.
