Petrichor- MtS's Best of - 2014
« on: June 07, 2014, 11:37:33 AM »

Here is a compilation of MtS's stunts he's picked out for a best of video......up to june 2014.

This was a side project that was casual and whittled at over the last couple of months here in there in niches of free time and i hope you all enjoy it.

We'd like to thank everyone here at gtas, past and present and especially to those who keep us motivated and remind of us the pure love of stunting and keep it going.

The title was just a word i've always liked, representing that fresh scent of air after rainfall after a dry period. Everything is washed, hydrated, and plants are exfoliating oils and kind of went with purging and looking back at the recent past of stuntage.  The Grecian etymology of it is pretty cool as well.

Other than that, i tried to create feeling in the main. The intro and outro were kind of just the first ideas that were thought of...and just went with it. Outro is a lil rushed, but will doodoo  I've had to jump ship from several videos and a couple cv's for awhile, so i just wanted to make sure to see this to the end and I hope you enjoy it.

I'd like to give a last shoutout to MtS for being an all around solid dude.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I strongly recommend dling the video as there is significant less stutter/lag/audio synch, from the YT version. (workin on it and will replace)
I tried encoding and all that lossless stuff, but it didn't work out too well. Hopefully that'll get sorted for the next one.

Cheers

Downloading.

Holy shit MtS and Ohki. I've never thought that a stunting video could be plain gorgeous but this one just did it. Stunts were on par with the best stunts ever landed in vc and the editing was plain genius. Amazing video in every aspect that comes to my mind.

Amazing video because beyond the clear thing that it's great to watch the natural stunting mastery in this, and enjoy such brilliant executions by one of my great gtas friends, but also because of the not less than brilliant editing by another one of them, Ohki, I've said it before and will again: What a great editor you are.
The montage of both sonic and visual material is simply great.

I feel like I owe you this review for the great work you two pulled off.

First of all the intro was really well made, I loved the idea of including 'Real Men of Genius' and 'Thrown Away' into the mixed tracks, sorry for being ignorant if there were any more references that I did not spot. The whole concept is simple and very well executed, everything looked just right. Hopping right into the first stunt as the right tape starts playing was very cool.

1[0:36-0:54]: The first thing that caught my eyes was the glowy area around the Zebra, I suppose you've modified the vehicle itself to add the water (?) particle but I could be wrong, nevertheless it looks really good and fresh, almost screaming 'Hey, watch this car for the action!'; blends just right into the light colors of sky and sweet candy pink clouds. Gotta love the look of everything so far. Can't say much about the stunt, we've all seen it in Oasis. Solid one, looks very tricky, definitely a good pick to start the video.
2[0:54-1:08]: Again a stunt from Oasis, can't think of a better Fire Truck stunt than this. Both the spot and the execution still bring a smile to my face, good thinking. That little countdown going on the truck was superb, I can imagine the sky changes its looks everytime you watch the replay so I can't nitpick on that, great idea.
3[1:08-1:23]: Sweet transision, looked like Mateus was just getting off stage to show more tricks he had up his sleeve. The stunt itself is really, I mean really good. You don't see such sideways bump very often, the spin you had made it even cooler.
4[1:23-1:32]: Again the transision was really cool. I like the wallride version of this stunt equally as much as the one without. Good effort that pays off visually.
5[1:32-1:47]: A squalo precision with impressive airtime. Gotta give it to you, you could land a good stunt with any vehicle.
6[1:47-2:05]: Ace infernus action, the sideways camera was really a spot-on in this case.
7[2:05-2:18]: I really wish I could've put this into the main part of Magnum. Lovely stunt, awesome transision to it as well.
8[2:18-2:30]: Really good one, can't say a bad word about it.
9[2:30-2:40]: Natural - doin' it right, yet again a great one.
10[2:40-3:02]: Not only a splendid stunt, splendid editing! The build-up itself was so fresh, and then that little Lucidity reference made me smile. It worked so much better though, gave a 3D feeling with the given camera angle.
11[3:02-3:14]: Strong sanchez stunt, the krail makes it even better.
12[3:14-3:41]: One of my favorite stunts from you, it's just perfect. It was also presented in a great way, good camera angles!
13[3:41-3:57]: One-of-a-kind spot and stunt, that's what really defines your work,  Mateus. :)
14[3:57-4:08]: Still loving this one, that little wallride up to the precision is very smart.
15[4:08-4:31]: Unique stunt, the camera angle was just marvelous. I didn't manage to show the skimmer landing one of the precisions properly, nicely done!
16[4:31-4:47]: Again a very cool transision followed by a very cool stunt.
17[4:47-5:00]: Classic stunt in my book, you managed to find something new and awesome in that place where one would think everything worthy has been done. That pole slide transision was next level, haven't seen one like that in VC up until now.
18[5:00- 5:12]: This gotta be the biggest hotring stunt ever landed, I can't think of any other. You know how much I love it, #1 in my book.
19[5:12-5:33]: Yet again a sick stunt, really liked the cameras in this one, I appreciate you experimenting rather than sticking to good old formulas, Sam.  :a-cheer:
20[5:33-5:43]: Gotta love proper grab-combos, this one is defo one of them. Sweet stunt.
21[5:43-6:00]: Sick on so many levels, I don't know how you've managed to stay sane when trying this. Awesome.
22[6:00-6:10]: Natural is the way to go, solid precision.
23[6:10-6:31]: Stunt of the year, nothing more to add. Rearranging that TMS logo was something I wanted to see for a long time, really cool addition to the video. :D
24[6:31-7:14]: Nothing heavier to end the video with than a huge tank stunt, good choice.

Fluent transision into the outro, yet again showing how well-thought and executed the whole video is, you flow through one part into another, it works so damn well. The outro itself is off the hook, hands down the best one I've seen in a stunting video.

Both songs were good picks, they fit into what was happening very well. Nothing much to say here, I enjoyed both of them and probably will be listening to both of them some more in the nearest time thanks to you.  :jajaja:

FINAL WORDS

The name of the vid fits it for sure. I love the atmosphere you've created with the stormy weather whereas the whole look was bright and warm. Mateus, you've proven yourself to be the best active stunter for me and many others I bet. Really good compilation of stunts, I was honoured to edit half of them but I also feel bad for not delivering the right products, unlike this video. Samurai gave all of the stunts their justice, props to him. You two seem to be unmatched at what you do. I hope we'll see much more from you folks, be proud of your work.

Incredible. That's all I can say for now, I'll see if I'll be able to express myself better in a longer review.

The countdown on the firetruck has to be one of the most clever effects ever.

10/10

Really sweet vid, my favorites are freeway combo near hospital in LC and taxi stunts. Samurai's editing reminds me of Sorcery style. It wasn't very original like in some previous vids but it was very enjoyable. Good job guys!

This. Plus, the editing did not really impressed me, I really expected a bit more from you, and also a lot more considering who the stunter is (Not that the edit has to be ultra for ultra stunters, and shit for shitty stunters), but still, I expected way more.

Stunting wise was the real shit mah nigga, that was some motivating stuff for me as it made me open the game, the mixing of stunt actually gathers a quite motivation on myself, or at least, I felt it like it :P
