Ways to increase activity
« on: January 16, 2014, 10:30:21 AM »
Some suggestions because this place is hella dull.

1. Creating a contest of some sort. We could grab hold of a few copies of the GTA all-in-one edition and host a competition for members and spread the word somehow, then have you be required to sign up to the forum to be eligible to win.

2. New poster groups. Having an 'active poster' group assigned to people who post alot would be an incentive to participate in the forum threads. I've witnessed people go ham over this silly orange veteran title, so why not create something equally silly and have people obsess over that? It would benefit the community if it became something sought-after, expand the colour palette sorta thing.
(They hosted a competition over at the APB forums where the reward was being able to have a blue username, believe it or not things got heated and a lot of people participated.)

3. Mass emailing all 11.000 registered members with a brief message, remind people we're still here.

4. Spice things up a bit and get a new theme, just an idea, this place looks just like any free forum template. 'Cept for the portal, the portal is really well done, but we're not here for my personal opinion.

5. Be more active. This goes out to everyone, just post more, don't be lurkers.

6. The "pictures of your faces" as well as similar massive threads are great, gives people an incentive to pop on here. Anything we can do to expand on this?

Other suggestions?

I'm all for it, I may not really be that much into watching stunting anymore, but I still try to chime in most other threads.

Maybe we could also re-model the 'What are you listening to' thread in a way that a poster has to comment on the track posted above him to at least encourage some discussion.

Also, what happened to those Meet the Stunter interviews?

I'm done with stunting in all the old games, I just don't want to see this place die since I had fun here. Besides with all the media attention GTA 5 is getting, I'm sure stunting will be a big thing once the PC version gets out. The only problem is that this place is completely unknown to folks who may be interested in stunting, before we know it a website called Gta5stunting will show up, and if it does then we're done for.

I like your idea though, after all everyone likes music.

I don't think this place is unknown in GTA 5 world, thanks to NU actually. I've already seen about 20 new members that posts regulary and have found this place on Rockstar website or Machinima.

I remember being active back in 2010, most of the people attacked me and called a spammer, You were one of them Noah :P
I would like to be active and post more, but there is nothing I could post about, If someone could make some GFX contest I would like to participate and be more active.
I remember bringing back the GFX battle section, even one vs one would help.
Might try to do that again, since we have lots of gfxers as I have seen.

Stunting vise I guess releasing fixed cols for VC would be a really big boost to stunting activity there, also no slow roads mod for SA would do the job, but it's a little to early for that

Yea we could make some contest, not only stunting related, as Veno said we can make some kind of GFX tournament, so it's abit more clear aswell at the end of the year for awards because I don't really know why I am on this category tbh  Also I kinda missed editing tournament this year, was there one?
Another idea is to add, like in all those gta related forum, a mod page. Where we can put for example nrg/pcj skins we want to give for free, some player skins or just some maps mod or water texture, ecc. you know. And where we can put aswell all the vids like in TGA

Agreed with all that was said above (please bring change, but not for the worst).

I suppose we can try gaining the attention through NU at the moment until the community comes up with something. But, please take a poll voting on this as many sites just change without having the opinion of their community - and always show us a preview.

For now, since we got a chance with Machinma, we could expand our older game productions if we just make it a bit more of their style (if possible as I think I've seen one or two). Also, if we've got friends over here that are also apart of other gaming communities - it would be a great deal to grab their attention to here (console communities don't bring much of a use, to be honest).

Now that was for editing/website display.

For what we do best at, I just came up with an idea of giving a commentary tutorial for each and new registered user. That every time a new member registers, a video would pop up explaining all aspects of this forum and what we do for performance. Should also give the option to read the forum and In-Game rules.

Someone should talk to AJ Collins about updating the forum rules, as they are here and there and many dickhead behavior has been spreading around with this modding/rivalry shit. If we can also put a new section for those who we deem to be legends of GTAStunting or a stunters hall of fame - it might give a spark out to some others (Kr3mlin, PtRvY, etc). And so on and on; because there is nothing wrong of giving a history lesson to newcomers.

Contests are becoming a hard thing as they just go inactive due to late judgement or inactivity between the participants. Forum awards are one thing that motivates a person in doing his best.

Another thing that I really had in mind (personal opinion); stop asking for the high/over-the-top stunts for a lot of videos. Not really everyone has that skill and people do want to build a normal career. If you want a good production, but can't get the right stunts for it - get an amazing editor for the job, don't be shy to ask for another one. If you got good stunts, but not a very good editor - ask for one that would do a clean, yet classical job. Those things do matter, because in the past it was easy to just send a stunt and then laugh about it, it is what brought the community into one piece (check the comments and replies and you'll know).

We can change for better if we do instead will.

Also just a little idea, I remember in an old forum there was a system called "karma star". You had like 10 grey stars under your avatar, if you keep doing tutorial or helping member ecc. in the forum you get 1 gold star, basically everytime you do something good you get one star, but of course first star is easy to get and then it become harder every star you get. But, for example, if you have a bad attidue ecc. you get a red star, so if you want them to be grey again you have to help in the forum, do tutorials ecc. I honestly don't know if it's possible to make here cuz I think it was only for that specific forum template but I might be wrong tho.
And the Trollbox, I honestly would put it over all the forum sections, because I actually pass more time in the forum than the homepage, it's kinda hidden there IMO.

Am i the only one who thinks this place is not as dead as people make it be?
I mean just because we don't have thousands of new posts every day it doesn't mean that stunting is dead, jeez.
GTAS has always been a small community, i don't understand why suddenly everyone thinks there's a need to change it.

Members were more active and the growth of new stunters was much faster in the past.

The problem with relying on Machinima is that networks now only benefit "managed partners". Affiliated partners literally have no reason to be with a network any more, unless the network is small enough to focus on growing your channel.

The only benefit to going through Machinima is easy recognition, but you can gain popularity through websites like Reddit and Twitter, so giving Machinima a share of your revenue is really pointless. That is unless your someone like Ben Buja, someone who makes up a significant portion of Machinima's cash flow. Watch this before you consider signing up with Machinima :).

I think the only way to keep this place going is to drag the attention from the V (and possibly IV) -players. The site's core is obviously stunting and the drop in activity in the old games is what makes this place "dead".

I'd say the way to go is put the new video's links EVERYWHERE: GTA forums, other forums, your facebook wall etc. Including "GTA V STUNTS" in the youtube title is of course a must together with the site in the description.

Sadly I think this place is only going to be about the newer games in a year or so but maybe it will have better activity then.

The ideas are good guys. But you know that the time will come some day..
You get bored of stunting and change the game or stop playing games.

GTAS
will never die because we are addicted to stunting and we should be
thanful to AJ Collins and Flat Face for keeping this community alive
instead of increasing the number of posts. Everything is just fine.
