Constructive criticism when making a negative comment on a video. I can't stress this enough.

Please take a half a second of thought before pressing the 'Post' button:
"Is this comment going to help the author of the video improve his work for his next project?"
If no, then maybe you should reconsider if there's any point in posting at all.

Nobody needs to read comments on their video like "I didn't like it" or something equally worthless. If you're gonna say something bad about the video, you must explain why it is you think it's bad, or else there's really no point.

We're supposed to be a fucking community, yet EVERY time I visit this place I see members treat other members with a complete lack of respect, it's pretty disheartening.

If stunting is less fun than it was five or ten years ago, it's not because the GTA games have changed (they're exactly the same!), it's because there's been a shift in our collective mentality here on GTAS. And I'm not just being nostalgic, when I signed up here, people didn't write such shitty comments as nowadays.


TLDR; There's no point in just criticising a video if you don't offer any advice. Seems pretty self-explanatory, yet so many members on here can't seem to grasp this simple and elegant code of conduct.

Being one who absolutely cherishes constructive criticism & employs it everywhere he can, even if it is often more subjective than it is objective, I don't see why you'd ever think I'd make a post like that un-ironically 

I just use satire wherever I see fit & it's never meant to be taken seriously, or, god forbid, personally

Well, I'm not making/participating in videos anymore, so it's not really affecting me. I'm just frustrated on behalf of all the people on here who are not getting proper feedback. More often than not it's the people who actually need the feedback (usually beginners) who get big fat fuck you's in their face even when they try their best, while the detailed feedback is reserved for stunters/editors who already know that they are good

Because you don't really have to improve if people think your video was good. Surely they can give tips on how to make it even better but it's less important then when people think your videos are shit 10x in a row. When a total newbie comes around I nearly always try to explain what he can do better. The only guys that I don't want to give constructive critisism on are they people who see theirselfs as a victim of accusations and act that way out towards the community.

There really isn't a point in leaving a comment like that & I generally hate when people blindly praise the vids I make & don't even attempt to explain why they liked them. "I liked it" is such a bland & generic comment, it almost seems negative, because if I liked something I'd put time in expressing that & congratulating the author for having done a good work.
IIf your post is equivalent to a thumbs up or down on youtube, then just do that & don't fucking comment at all.

Because I know how long has been Kevin/D4rksh4dow working on the whole vid. And If I would ever finish something like that, it'd really piss me off if somebody would leave a comment like ''that was boring''.

You're right, but Red had a clear point when he said we're supposed to be a community and the mental difference of it within a few years.
