Statements From A Game Tester Who Has Tested GTA V
« on: March 05, 2012, 03:25:25 PM »
This 100% legit, he's one of my friends who tests games professionally and gets paid for it, and around about a week ago or so he went and tested GTA V. The footage which you may have seen (the blue car driving up the mountain) is real according to him, he has also said; you have to fuel cars and planes, you can pull over if you're getting chased by cops, if you walk around with a rocket launcher equipt or stuff like that it goes straight to the army, the police launch attacks on you, army boats, you can launch air strikes like mortar strikes, and if you get run over say your right leg, you limp with that leg till you get to a hospital for treatment, and helicopters are a lot more intelligent. You can choose to believe this or not it is entirely up to you, I can try to get more information if you would like to ask him any questions.

That the video is real is kind of disappointing. I won't draw any conclusions though. I'll just wait and see.

Apparently so, I think the majority of the beta is like that at the moment though, it seems as if they are far from finalising the textures, which in a way is a good thing. Put it this way, they can release the game anywhere up to the end of next year, and if everything my friend says is true, they have up to a year and a half to simply correct the textures and finalise some story plots, as it seems as if the majority of the major components are complete.

I'm afraid from what he's said it looks like realism is the way games are going, just gunna have to pull over for the petrol when you're tank is low :/. There is a point where the realism of a game should be capped off I admit, we'll all just have to try GTA V out and see if its a burden or not.

I'm sorry, but almost none of that sounds true. Having to fuel cars would just stop the game dead in its tracks - as would having to go to the hospital if you received some kind of injury. Rockstar was built on the popularity of the GTA franchise, and that franchise has been based almost solely on one angle - repetition. The only time one of the games really deviated from the status quo was in SA, but when IV came out it basically pulled everything back to a basic design. The reason is because simplicity works. I can maybe buy the idea that you'd eventually have the army after you if you walked around with a rocket launcher, but that only validates all the claims. I might be wrong and I'll wind up with egg on my face when I find out all these things are true, but I doubt it.

The video you mentioned also looks too odd to be convincing. The scale is totally out of whack - like the car is too big for the terrain. Also, why would you have a dummy driver when (looking at the trailer) pedestrian and possibly player models have already been developed? Also, that video validates the first vid in that thread (of the Van going up Mt. Chilliad), which is almost certainly a fake.

I dunno. It just strikes me as someone pulling your leg, or you pulling ours.

The videos are fake anyway, the radar is not even synced with the game and the graphics look nothing like the trailer. It's supposed to be a fun game not a retarded simulator in which you won't play but stay at the hospital the whole time because you tried to get in a gunfight or crashed your car. It might be true for another game but GTA players are not expecting to play another RPG.

Again I'm only referring to what I've been told, he works in a CGI based company, and they have requested to be sent footage of the game and rockstar have allowed it in order to let them look at the CGI components of the game. If i get sent word of any of this footage being sent to them I will almost certainly attempt to get my hands on it and show you guys. And in response to the realism of the filling up cars with petrol, I wouldn't be surprised if they go down that route say for missions instead of just free mode, as there have been plenty of missions on the GTA's across the years, where you will go one place across the entire map, pick up someone, go do an activity, go kill people, all across the map, and never had to even stop for fuel. That's how i reckon it will be placed into the game, in between missions where they will add in some form of cutscene to reveal more of the storyline, but again this is just what I've been told, so I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I'm sorry if this sounds harsh but you're living a non-existent fantasy

That "video" looks like its straight out of a 3D modeling software., and looks absolutely NOTHING like R.A.G.E ..really. The game is in full production, so things like "textures aren't done" is long gone, as you can see in the trailer.. and if you didn't realize yet, the trailer IS in game footage. So anything that DOESN'T look like the trailer isn't GTA V.

If this really ends up being true, I think the game would be even a bigger disappointment than IV.

This is just what I've heard man, I understand it's hard to believe that footage posted on YouTube is real, especially as rockstar haven't complained and asked for it to be taken down, yet the person who has actually tested it is the best bit of evidence I can gather so far. If it's all true or not that's up to how much you trust me and the game tester, and as you don't know me that would be none at all XD. But at the very least it's the first few pieces of information I've heard off which actually sound half true at the least. No aliens, no rockets, just some in-game features they might include and might simply be getting peoples opinions on them, such as the petrol theory. As slayer said, I guess we'll just have to wait for some real facts to come out, but for now it's something to think about and discuss.

I can understand the idea that Rockstar are testing concepts and getting feedback from testers - but they just sound so...un-GTA that it's hard to believe. SA was a testing ground for new features, so it's not too much of a stretch to think V may do the same. But again, the features you mentioned are totally counter-intuitive to a fluid gaming experience - much like the 'having to eat' nuisance in SA was.

I don't doubt that you've been told this, I just doubt its authenticity. I also don't believe for one second that footage is of GTA V. Supposed GTA V footage has been bouncing around youtube for years now, and none of it is authentic. Rockstar guard the privacy of their upcoming releases religiously.

I guess I don't have any sort of comparison for you to compare it with, this guy might have been giving a realistic concept in which the things i mentioned were placed within the game, and another group of people were giving a classic GTA style game in which many realistic things were missed out for the enjoyment of the customer. We just don't know at this stage and it's hard to start speculating at something like GTA V especially with how secretive rockstar are. I also agree with what you say about the footage, it strikes it as being highly unlikely to be real if rockstar have not reported or put in some sort of inquest for its removal, but you know I sent it to this guy and he seems to think the movement of the vehicle was pretty much spot on to what he was experiencing, maybe not the surroundings, but the vehicle he said was pretty spot on.
