Should wheelies & stoppies be removed from WRs?
« on: July 18, 2005, 12:37:06 PM »
more and more it's being realized that wheelies and stoppies can go on forever and don't require a lot of skill and have become yawners. here's what some have had to say about it in the WR thread recently...

Quote
i got 19min and 21 sec on ps2 and the distance was 6400m or something. it really easy on ps2 coz u can hold a certain angle and with that anglt u wount lose speed and u can keep on going forever, i just fell asleep doing that record and thats why i only got 19min.

i think i know what you're talking about. i realized last night that you can just accelerate enough to pull up a little and then just hold down and left/right and go in circles, without even holding the gas, and basically do a wheelie forever. i don't know about anyone else but i personally have lost interest in wheelies and stoppies because there's no challenge. you can go on and on forever sometimes, and it's more like a matter of seeing who can tolerate prolonged boredom more than seeing who has the most skill.

Quote
yeah those wheelie records are getting pointless coz there is so many ways to do endless wheelies and stoppies. maybe they should be taken from the record list?? but its not my desicion, just a thought...

I agree. It's not the same as in VC (although there was a really easy way to wheelies for fucking ever with a faggio at the airport)

They just seem alot easier now with the introduction of SA's changed physics. Height, distance, rotation, flips, etc..... are much more interesting. I'm sure there's other WR's we can come up with too.

feel free to make suggestions for new categories, too. :)

Meh, I say keep them. They'll just be the records for "who can tolerate prolonged boredom more."

I don't really see how it hurts having them as long as people know that there are ways of cheating the system.

Maybe something like highest/furthest air to longest stoppie would be more appropriate.

I never even got the Dodo to Staunton Island.  :(

They definitely are a worthless WR. Backwards stoppies are sort of a different story, though. They too, can be prolonged fairly easily, though.

Remove them.

It should be a honour to have a WR, I can´t see any honour in the longest stoppie/wheelie WR.

me and Southern Finest talked about it this I while back and we agreed that maybe the circled stoppie should be separated from the straight stoppie, cause really me and him were having a nice time trying to break each others record and here comes along somebody who does that kind of stoppie and totally blows us away, its not fair :( .
They shouldnt be removed but maybe separated or just disqualify circled stoppies cause in my opinion its a glitch.

i think they should stay because it still is a WR and its something people can compete over  . i know its easy but if they want to spend their time doing wheelies and stoppies, well why not?

Then it'll just be something else that gets relegated to the 'it's too easy' basket. I can circle around Grove street in a wheelie for as long as it takes me to break the record, and it's fairly easy...should that be considered a glitch too? It's in the game, it's done without a cheat or mod...it should stand. I think people would get jack of doing it for hours anyway.

People will concern themselves with SA records for a little while, then they just won't bother. I think taking the time to talk over, and separate what constitutes a record and what doesn't is pretty pointless.
