what do your equalizer settings look like? do you use presets? share them

punch&sparkle, it's what I use because my headphones are mid/high oriented and don't have great bass

I'm currently using Winamp, and have always been happy with it, until a few months ago when it wouldn't synchronize with my iPod anymore.

I read on wikipedia that foobar supports iPod, do you have any experience with this?

Basically I need a music library/player that's fast, reliable, plays everything, supports iPod and has a good/user friendly interface.

To answer your question: I've never used presets. Isn't it better to keep it at default if you play music from a wide array of genres?

Is the purpose of equalizing to try and make the music sound better, or to make it sound different (catering to your personal taste)? I have an old Fisher amp and four speakers (one in each corner of my room) which I bought at a flea market 6 years ago. The sound really has a lot of depth, and the quality is fantastic, so I've never felt the need to mess around with presets I guess.

I know foobar better than anyone on this forum. :P

First thing you have to do is replace that equalizer with another. You see, the default foobar equalizer only goes down t 55hz, that's mid-upper bass, normally equalizers must start from 30hz, that means you can't adjust the whole sound spectrum since it's missing the sub-bass (deepest bass).

And presets don't matter, it only depends on what audio equipment do you use, if one of my presets sound good for me it will probably sound retarded on someone else's speakers (or headphones). Just adjust them to your liking and try not to kill the dynamic range by increasing the bass too much.

If you want bass punch and a deepness for your headphones that sounds ALOT better than equalized bass try:

- a VST wrapper for foobar
with
- TriFex PhatBuzzFree
