1. I'm mostly impressed by diversity, complexity, creativity, style and well-thought, well executed ideas... I know it's much. Stunting is a wide range of stuff you do ingame that makes you use your mind and creative side and the concept is unique, it's artistic somewhat to me, yet has many fun elements.
2. It depends, some periods more some periods much less... nowdays alot, for a solo. It's mostly about am I bored of stunting at that time or do I have stuff to try.

1: Well nowayds people are pretty strict with the definition of "good stunt". Sometimes it's not necessary to land a 300ft P2B, only landing e.g. a ledgegrind2grind combo, could blow everyone's mind. But mostly you must have fun while doing it, don't get mad if you bail it or stuff like that. If you can't deal with it, just quit and you'll be better.

2: Some guys, as Cooper said, spent almost years for landing a spot. Barney it's an example of it, on his solo Monolith, landed an old ass tankbump2preci at LC callahan bridge with an Infernus, some guy said that he showed him that spot years back. But the point it's just give time to the time, everything will be successful if you take the proper time.

1. Creativity in the thought of a spot/setup/execution/ etc impresses me the most. I define stunting as anything that shows you have an adpet knowledge of the physics in the game and can use them to your advantage.

2. I have periods where everyday I'll stunt for 3-4 hrs. Then I have periods where I don't land or even attempt to land anything for weeks/months.

1. I'm not sure what you mean by 'concept of stunting', but if you mean a definition for stunting in general then it basically boils down to being improvisation. The whole thing is improvisation, and that's what makes it fun. We're thinking beyond the boundaries of the game and achieving (in the context of the game at least) the impossible. Taxi climbs can go way beyond the altitudinal limit, for example. What impresses me the most is, as a lot of people have already mentioned, a well thought out stunt. Big stunts have their appeal, but I'm more inclined to like something where the terrain has been used in a clever, effective way.

2. Barely any nowadays. In the early days I could spend hour after hour trying to land a whopper. Some of the simplest stuff often proves to be the most difficult. The three stunts I can recall spending the most time on were the taxi bridge landing in Alternative (that fucker really did push my buttons), the bridge arch landing in SA Smackdown (having the cam change for the unique jump didn't help this one), and the drop bump 2 girder in Trial By Fire (so many one wheel on, one wheel off landings - ugh!).

Back then I didn't think twice about the amount of time spent stunting. When I did my first accidental taxi climb at the bendy hotel in VC, I was up until 7am just doing that over and over again. *Sigh*...those were the days. I have a couple of fuck-prick stunts that I still haven't landed, despite a lot of time being spent on them, but maybe one day I'll go back with the right level of enthusiasm and dedication to get those fuckers off my 'must land' list.

are there any common rules in improvising stunts? i noticed in some threads that spawning vehicles into walls is not acceptable.

i wish you luck on landing the stunts on your 'must land' list.

Basically things that appear unnatural or unrealistic are frowned upon. This includes spawning vehicles in the wall as well as spawning vehicles on tall buildings that you could not reach without a mod. Of course there is always the Modded video section where you can stunt however you like.
Other rules include no altering to your handling.cfg no gravmods or anything else that will change the default settings in VC. (but once again modded section welcomes all that if you are into it)

2. There is luck involved in stunting, so even some easy stunts that need a bit luck may take time. For example I tryed one stunt  2-4 hours per day and I tryed it 2 days, didnt land it, took few days break tryed again and landed it in less than 30mins. Another funny thing I find intresting is that there is 2 kinds of stunts, those which you find fun and intresting to do and those which are very annoying and piss you off. Those which are fun and intresting to do, you get very addicted and you can grind them 24h without getting bored. I personally stunt time to time, I find necessary to take few days off stunting just to keep my mind fresh and ofcourse sometimes you are not motivated and then you will probably have long break from the stunting.
