They're called markers. You place them at some place of interest (for example, a drum hit in a track), and then the clips automatically snap to it.

and how do we do that?

Position the cursor on the spot where you want to place the marker. Then hit "M" with your keyboard.

Wait, none of you guys put effects on the whole project, just the individual layers? Am I the only one who does that? I thought that's how the majority do their CC's, I mean, it's much more simple that way

you mean, add the CC (or other vfx) to the tracks and not to each clip?
