Backwards Stoppies

Well, my SA torrent is still downloading, so I thought I'd write a small walkthrough on how to perform a Backwards Stoppie to help pass the time. I'm sure all of you know this by now, but I'm bored. This walkthrough will use the PS2's controls for the directions, but if you're playing on either the Xbox or PC, improvise. Do the same exact controls and same exact method, and it should work.

Getting Started
You can perform the Backwards Stoppie on all three bicycles in San Andreas: the BMX, the Bike, and the Mountain Bike. The suggested bike used for this trick is the Mountain Bike. You can go a bit faster and bunny hop a bit higher with it, but if you can't find one, a BMX will do just fine. If you've been doing Backwards Stoppies for quite some time now and you understand the concept, try using the Bike for an added challenge. Once you have the bike of your choice, head over to an open area -- 1500+ feet in length is ideal. Airports are PERFECT for this trick, so I suggest you head over to one of those for this trick.

Setting up the Backwards Stoppie
Once you're in the open space of your choice, start pedalling forward. Don't go too fast, or you'll bail trying to do the next step. Once you're going at a moderate speed, hold the Bunny Hop button down (L1). Hold it for about 5 seconds then let go. But before you let go of it, tap the emergency brake button (R1) once. This will help you in turning. Once you're in the air, perform a 180 degree spin so that you would land the jump backwards.

Performing the Backwards Stoppie
Once you're in the air and your back is turned towards the direction of which you are going, tilt back a little bit so that you'll land on your back tire first. Right before you land, lean forward and DON'T HOLD ANYTHING ELSE DOWN. If you were going too fast, like I told you not to, odds are you will either bounce out of the stoppie position, or bail. If you executed it just right, you will roll off your back tire and turn into the stoppie position. Keep holding forward. If you're still moving and are in the stoppie position, congradulations! You've performed the Backwards Stoppie. But it's not over yet...

Maintaining the Backwards Stoppie
Once you've got your Backwards Stoppie going, it's important to hold up the whole time and not to press anything else. If you tap/hold down the brake (Square) button, there is a chance of you slowing down, even though it has not been proven to do exactly that, nor has it been proven to help you at all. I suggest not touching anything but up. Having trouble seeing where you're going? Use the side views (R2 and L2) and the rear view (R2+L2) to change views. If you use the rear view whilst performing the Backwards Stoppie, the camera will be mounted in front of your front tire, since you are backwards you know.

Turning the Backwards Stoppie
Are you about to run into a wall, object, or drop? Simply hold left or right until you start to turn. Remember not to turn too sharply or else you will kill your Stoppie. Once your tire has bearly turned, stop. Hold that position until you've turned away from the obsticle. Keep in mind though that since you are moving backwards, your controls will be inverted. For example, if you hold left on the analog stick, your bike will turn right. This can prove to be a very handy and neat trick.

Landing your Backwards Stoppie
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. Eventually, your CJ will stand straight on the pedals and gradually slow down. You can't stop this. Once he's standing straight, it's done. Keep holding up until you've come to a complete stop. Make sure you're away from obsticles to that you won't crach into it and bail. That would suck.

There you have it. :)
