.mts avchd files wont play in final cut pro
« on: April 12, 2011, 11:48:57 PM »
Hey so we're doing a project in school where we recorded with some srs cams. It saves its files in 60 fps 1080p .mts avchd files. The problem is they wont play in final cut pro. Any ideas on which codecs I need/converter I could use?

I'd recommend you to convert those files to lossless .avi ones, because there's no special codec required for playing those usually (I reckon it's the same on a Mac, but I'm not giving you a warranty at all lol). For the converting I'd suggest you to use VirtualDub or some similar compatible software in case you want to do that on a Mac OS (e.g. - Avidemux, though I heard it's slightly bugged).

They're serious camera's that record at default 60fps? Surely you'd only use that for slowmotion. Anyway, converting them to lossless AVI isn't the best way to go. Use MPEG Streamclip or maybe Compressor to convert it to Apple Prores, then you'll be fine.
