my fraps gets slower :S
« on: February 21, 2011, 07:42:21 PM »
when i first upgraded my laptop, I could have recorded with fraps at 15 fps while running chrome, messenger plus several other programs and get perfect fps.
now... liek 3 months later my laptop has to record at 10 fps and the fps lowers n shiz so much... =/
but the speed in fps during gameplay in any other game including GTA San Andreas are normal... it only drops by a bunch when i record...

any suggestions?
PLEASE DONT TELL ME TO GO BUY A NEW COMPUTER.

Try defragging your hard disk with a free program such as 'mydefrag'. If for whatever reason you have a 2nd hard drive in there, fraps to that one instead and the problem will be solved. If none of that works, it's also possible that it has been slowed down by a virus, so scan your computer. If you have crazy trainer installed, delete it as that's bound to be the reason (virus, it did the same to my old PC) :P

Download a new computer.

OT: what have you been up to the past 3 months? if you dled really much that'd slow the computer down you might wanna think of deleting junk.
Changing the priority of the game with task manager won't help a fuck by the way.

I'll try to be helpful.

Now, I'm not saying you watch P*** But just clean your PC well. CCLEANER and GameBooster are both excellent programs to allow you to fulfill your pc experience, in this case, fraps recording.

After you have done that, play around with the settings in FRAPS, to suit your liking. For me, I stick with 30FPS recording and don't get any problems, but again just play around with the settings because the main task is to get it as smooth as possible.

Maybe a virus is flying around in there.... Just clean your laptop will ya?

No problem :D, but here's some more advice; GET AN ANTIVIRUS! Seriously, if you use the internet, browsing without an anti-virus, firewall, anti-spyware/malware etc is suicide. Even with all that, it's easy enough to get infected if you stumble onto an infected website by accident, so without it you really are fucked. I'd recommend buying Norton Internet Security, you can just leave it on the default settings and it runs perfectly. Ignore elitists who like to say Norton sucks without having tried it; used to have terrible CPU usage but on the latest editions it's all solved, and based on both tests and user experience it's pretty much the best all in one package around. There's other good programs too, but with Norton it's like £40 a year for a really good system of protection, great deal. I'd avoid free programs like AVG Free when it comes to protection, they aren't that great. If you had to go with a free one I'd recommended 'Avast'.

I've been completely against pirating for a while now, but given that you're clearly involved in that that and, you've probably got crazy trainer and stuff installed on your computer, it's bound to be full to the brim with viruses. You should seriously think about reinstalling Windows and starting over. Backup your important documents to an external hard drive and you're good to go. Before copying any backups over to a new installation, realize that it's a risk even doing that, so at the very least, scan them before doing so; it's better than nothing. The night before I moved onto my new PC, I spent about 2-3 hours writing myself a step-by-step guide on how to set up my computer just as I like it, exactly the same as before. I did this by going through my programs, my settings and trying to think of every single thing I needed to do before starting the process. You'll undoubtedly find things you didn't think of along the way, but it helps to have a plan. Take a day or two out of your time, and with patience you could have it up and running again without the need for all these workarounds ;). And also if you do use Crazy Trainer with San Andreas, don't. It's a virus and you will come across the same problem again; I'm speaking from personal experience :P

Crazy Trainer is not a virus, obviously SS doesn't know what he's talking about but still writes 2 pages of bullcrap as always.

It is, it's detected as one by almost every virus program, and people are constantly reporting it slowing down their machines. It did it to mine as well, I know for a fact it is a virus. People say it's a false positive, it's not. You should stick to trolling and making jokes Baseline, even if they aren't all that funny ;)
