Yeah, the sixth season of Dexter was somewhat of a disappointment, after a promising start. The last six episodes were basically a setup for next season, so they got lazy with the plot of the season they were in. The best part of the season was Mos Def - who was excellent. The one thing that makes me always look forward to a new Dexter season is an interesting character, because every season has had at least one. It's at the point now where Dexter should seriously consider wrapping up. Sub-plots are becoming repetitive and laziness is beginning to show in the writing. Case in point - why did Travis go to Dexter's house? I know he looked for a sign from God and yadda yadda, but as a device he did that simply so Dexter's son could be kidnapped. It was lazy writing and shouldn't have even entered into the story in any way. Another sticking point for me was why did Deb go to the church? Again, it was simply done for that cliffhanger ending and didn't make any logical sense. Make next season the final season and go out on a high note, I say.
As for your questions, Travis obviously wanted to kick back somewhere and not hide out in the open, hence why he returned to his first hiding place. When he found out that the police were there he had to find a new place and considering he had stolen Dexter's keys and wallet it was obvious he would go there. As for Deb going to the church, she had told Dexter to do a final sweep there so they could wrap it up as a crime scene and she knew he would be there in the evening because of the school thing with his son. She went there because she wanted to talk with him about the whole 'in love thing'.
