Editing crews sections
« on: January 28, 2011, 09:37:11 AM »
btw I was thinking in something..
Well editing crews should have their own section like stunting crews..

So people could ask us for projects, we could have our info organized and we could have a private section to discuss about project and stuff about editing :ajaja:

What do you guys think about it?
I think it would be a nice idea, instead of just a pinned topic.

Permissionplz?

No. And I'm going to clarify why I think so:

1. People should get informed about good editing crews not based on whether or not they have a section / pinned topic, but based on a great project they've made. And since very little stunt videos actually get accessed through the editing crew topics and mostly through their own maiden topics in Video Releases, I don't see this as a need to boost a crew's fame. Everyone who likes you already has a reason to. If you wish more fans, make more good projects.

2.

The pinned threads already provide quite enough info to anyone who might be interested. Having your info organized? You only need one topic to list all your stuff + lineup. Private section for discussing about stuff? For the 2 years I've been in BT I've never had the need for that, MSN all the way. The only way you might need that is if you'd want to make a editing crew video, and so far only BT made that. We didn't need a section.

3. The number of editing crews isn't big at all - it never exceeded 7 or 8 i think - so even if some crews stand out, it would be a very small and insignificant number based on the rest. No need to emphasize something as tiny as that through a section.

4. This is, after all, a stunting forum. It has sections for stunting crews which stand out from the rest. It shouldn't have sections for something not stunt-wise, at least not without changing the site's entire purpose. It would be a waste of space, in my opinion.

I don't really think it's necessary. If you're editing videos for other people they should have the right to choose where it's posted, rather than posting it in that editing crews section. Most videos would likely want to go in the "un-modded" video section or the stunting crews section for that matter. I think the pinned topic is enough to let people know if they need videos edited, they have options.

I thought editing sections were discussed a while back and were being thought about implementing them? I'm not too fussed as to what happens because I mostly get my requests over msn or pm, and the thread does seem to be enough. Don't get me wrong, editing crew sections would be a nice luxury, with the extra space etc.. even collabs could be organized within the sections. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, I'm just saying I'm not overly fussed as to whether it happens or not. Because I can live without it, but it would definitely be a bonus.

Why is it so serious? We don't need a section for editing crews, or even stunt crews.

Stunt crew section is not bad at all. A section for editing crews is a bit weird though. What's wrong with the place they have in the Video Editing section?

I'm not really negative nor positive. I mean, we could have a section based in the Video editing sub-forum, where today you can find editing tutorials and editing tournament. Having the "main-sub-forum" for those tutorials and the editing tournament could save space, perhaps.

In other hand, I agree with Petar, having that for such a use could be a highlight for something that its not the main focus of these forums. And we can always make a MSN convo to catch up with everything we need, just like petar mentioned :)
