Does Lou actually sing in any of those songs?
'cause from what I've seen in the ads, he just speaks in a really boring voice the lyrics that a 7 year old could come up with  <_< And ads are supposed to capture the highlight of the whole thing, so I don't think I'm even gonna check it out.

It's mostly spoken word.

edit: Lyrics are based on some play concerning a prostitute/ woman killed by Jack the Ripper. Like I mentioned in the previous post, Lou has a really distinct style of expressing himself, and while quality of this album remains discussable, quality of his songwriting is indisputable when you're familiar with his work.

I AM A CHORUS OF THE VOICES
THAT GATHER UP THE MAGNETS
SET BEFORE ME

I ATTRACT YOU AND REPEL YOU
A SCIENCE OF THE HEART
AND BLOOD AND MEANING

How can you take THAT seriously?
I've got nothing against Lou, I like him, in fact, but this is just ridiculous.

Tool

yes

Thought you might've heard those previews of The View. Basicly the whole album is this;

I AM THE TABLE
Okay I must admit that made me  hahahah
Anyway I checked some songs now, the lyrics and the music separately are really good if you ask me, but the two don't work as a harmonic union, really repulsive moreover.

...
I don't really get what's so ridiculous about those verses , except the "I am the table" line, but of course it's funny when completely taken out of context of a concept album.

After all, we all have our tastes, but I am just making a point that if you're fond of Lou Reed and maybe some of his more eccentric works, set aside Metallica, you might not find this album so bad after all.

Well, if I wanted to read poetry, I'd read poetry, music is different the way I see it. Put aside that, I really can't stand that talking & occasional, obnoxious, off-key singing of a few words. But enough of that, I'm happy that you enjoy it & I guess it's just not for me.

The only songs from Black you know are Enter Sandman and Nothing Else Matters and perhaps Wherever I May Roam which you wouldn't even have a fucking clue about if it wasn't for Fracture, and I bet you've listened to 2 of the songs of the albums that came out after TBA, so what the fuck makes you think you're in a position to call it "shit".. and don't call The Black Abum "Black" either, like you're some know-it-all fan, you shitfaced cumsucking wreck of a person.

"...And Justice For All" is the best Metallica album by a mile, and it still sucks major ass. "Lulu" is better actually, hell even "St. Anger"... because it's angry and stuff.
