Basically I need a list of tools / tutorials that will let me
1) Clear out the current SA map
2) Open that cleared terrain in a map editor so I can re-insert parts of the SA map wherever I want from scratch

I know about the map cleaner, but at the moment I cannot find a way to clear the map and then open it up to put things in using a map editor

Yeah really should of had a readme file for this but it's not to hard.

You get 2 folders, Data and GTA3.img.

Make sure you backup these files you will be replacing for this.

gta_vc.dat
timecyc.dat

Extract all the folders and files for this mod to a folder on your PC where you will be able to find them later.

Open the Data folder in the mod, there's a folder called Maps and 2 files, both .dat files. gta_vc.dat and timecyc.dat go in the Data folder of VC.  Within the Data folder of this mod is another folder called Skybox. Place the Skybox folder in your Maps folder of VC. The Maps folder is a subfolder located in the Data folder.

Now go back to the GTA3.img folder of the mod. Those 2 files, lodnebo.dff and LODnebo.txd have to be added to the gta3.img, located in the Models folder of VC. This is usually done with a program called IMG tool. Just open the program, click command, then Add. Find where lodnebo.dff and LODnebo.txd are on your PC and add them to the gta3.img. Close IMG tool and you should be all set.

There's a tutorial for it somewhere deep in this section but I don't know if the pictures are still there. I might just help you if you get on MSN. :P

I'll upload the DATA tool I have to my TGTAP page at some point, I wouldn't as it's not mine but it's no longer hosted anywhere.
