Nice build. I have that same case and I love it. Here's a work-log of my build if you're interested in taking a peek.

I want this, now :(

Well, I've gotten it to 4000GHz now... No blue screens as of yet
Gonna take a squiz at that link too brandon.

Is 54.5 a good temperature when under 100% load? it sits at around 24 degrees when idling.

That's actually 4000Mhz...

But uhm, that's a fine temperature... for an AMD :| Never gonna beat Intel tho :P

You shouldn't test the system out by waiting whether it'll BSOD or not (dunno if the OverDrive Utility does any of it's own tests), get Prime95 (32-bit, 64-bit) and run it overnight to get sure it'll stay stable.

And yeah those temps are alright. You're mixing up the prefixes by the way, it's 4 000 MHz's or 4 GHz's. :P

Yeah, MHz, GHz.. too many of the things, gets me confused :P

EDIT: Got Prime95 64bit, currently running a test for all day as I have school.
It seems to float around 60-65 degrees in temperature. This is with all my
fans running at full speed.

I also bumped the voltage up to 1.475

Will check it when I get home from school, hopefully the test goes succesfully.
Also, thank you for suggesting this stability/stress test utility, I would be lost
without you :P

UPDATE: Prime95 start time: 8:07 AM    Prime95 finish time: 4:30 PM Total: 8 1/2 hours
Temperature: 60 degrees
Speed: 4000MHz

Test results:

ITT we think 6 cores are good.
lmfao

oc through bios, not an app. you can do it on stock cooler, as well. the amd stock coolers are decent for a 3.8-4.0ghz. i managed to pull 4ghz on my II 940 back when i had it on stock, ran below 65C on load. this 6 core wont run much hotter than the old 940's. though, i wonder why you didn't get a decent quad rather than a half-assed 6 core.

nothing wrong with 6 core processors

Sweet temps

amd overdrive does have its own stability test

I might actually install it because its a pretty decent overclocking program really

It's a great tool, I had to change the voltage myself though because previously at 4000MHz & the stock
voltage, caused it to BSOD. I just bumped up the voltages to 1.475 and it seems good ever since.

Yes passing the tests means it running stable, go out and set the clocks higher until you reach it's maximum and then when it starts running unstable take the clocks down a couple tens of MHz's.

Also in case you want to keep the clocks @ 4GHz you might want to set the voltage lower and reach for the line where it's still stable with a minimum voltage, as less voltage -> lower temperature and power usage.

There's no problem with AMD's six-cores since they're reasonably priced compared to Intel's ones and since you already have the processor it doesn't make any good complaining.

You might also overclock your GPU in case you want to (you usally want after getting to the overclocking stuff, you know), there are different tools for it too but I've never had an AMD card before so I've no experience but at least GPUTool should do fine for adjusting the clocks and voltages and FurMark for the 3D testing.

Have fun overclocking. :P

you sure you can't run it on a lower voltage? I got my x3 at 4002mhz on the same voltage

True, they aren't bad, but not too good. But a good quad core is better than a half-assed 6 core. That, and well, no program/game uses full four cores anyway...

BTW, nice OC Delf.

@Tacojoe - Cheers mate ;)

@SabotagE - Yeah, that is 2007 information.. I wouldn't consider it as reputable as 2010, so to speak.

@Radioaktive - I'm sure it will last me a fair few years, as I'm loving the performance it kicks out and I see no reason to go upgrading it. The only things I may add to my system in the future to come, would probably be 4x crossfired graphics cards. I'm sure in time, there will be new & better graphics cards being released left right and center. I'll probably upgrade my RAM to a branded one too, atm I'm using generic DDR3.
