Yes, it gives you a good performance. Post the rest of your configuration though, I doubt you have a CPU good enough to make this worth your money.

its ati, they have crap drivers but w/e. 256-bit interface, lol.

its decent overall, dont worry about CPU bottleneck, ur cpu will be fine. at larger resolutions tho, this card will shit itself when u turn AA on.

Define "crap drivers" and also define what's wrong with 256-bit interface? :P

Yeah CPU bottleneck doesn't cause any problems, it's just that you'll get a card with less performance for less money.

You'll probably need a whole new set-up in case you want a new GPU and CPU... If that's the case let me know and I'll try to help you out.

I has a HD5850 on my laptop. Even on this mobile version I can max out almost all the games I play.

i7 is a waste of money, depending on which model u buy. 8 threads is useless since no game/program ever uses them all. every smart person turns HT off on their i7, making it a regular quad core and insane OCer.

so go for the i5 quad core, IF its cheaper overall. by overall, i mean mobo + cpu + ddr3. it seems that the i5 cpus arent much cheaper than the i7 cpus. :/ if the price difference is minimal overall, then go for i7 as it will be better futureproofed, as soon as games start taking advantage of HT.

for i5, u need to get 1156 socket mobo + ddr3 ram + i5 cpu
for i7, u need to get 1366 socket mobo + ddr3 ram + i7 cpu

which brand/model of ur mobo/ram/cpu u chose is up to you.

@ Mythic: oh nothing short of shitty drivers include BSODs with crossfire, insane artifacting, terrible CP, broken temp sensors, poor compatability with dx9 games, etc etc. and 256-bit mem interface for a higher mem clock speed and more shaders is quite sad on ati's part. they would be so much ahead if they dropped their ddr5/256 bit shit and used 512 bit. then they wouldnt be suffering with higher resolutions.

I'd take a i7 from the 1156 socket. 1366 is like the extra high-end one.

And Nvidia isn't "so much ahead". ATi still has the best videocard out there. And driver issues are things people experienced in the 2 or 3 series of cards. They're LONG gone now.
And you know what? Mostly that "driver issue" is sitting infront of the machine and not inside the machine.

no its not in my machine, reports everywhere on forums about 8.1/8.2 drivers being shitty is apparent. its been like 2 years since i had ati tho, maybe its different now. but experiennce defines it: its shit.

btw KM, stop trying to act like a smartass plz. isn't it enough that you got the whole gtas by the balls and sucking ur dick? i have way more than enough computer experience to tell the diff between driver/hardware issue.

"And Nvidia isn't "so much ahead". ATi still has the best videocard out there."
>fanboyfag spotted.

and why would u bother taking an i7 for 1156? the 860 is overpriced and has useless hyperthreading. if ur going to be more price effecient, u'd take i5. unless there is another 1156 i7 that im missing.

oh and, inb4 "taco is nvidia fanboyfag"
i hate nvidia just as much as i hate ati. both of them are shitty manufacturers and have their own faults, but ati is slightly better because of the price/performance ratio.

I'm not trying to act like a smartass im just telling the truth based on my experience.

No I'm not a 'fanfagboy'. It's just that Nvidia has totally failed with their 400 line of cards in my opinion. Therefore it's better to go with an ATi videocard.
Hyperthreading isn't THAT useless by the way. If you ever had a CPU with hyperthreading you WILL notice the difference in some applications. Yes the 860 is a little overpriced but I'd still go with it if I had the choice.

Absolutly, GTA4 will run better

I have a I7 920 clocked to 4.2ghz/air with a 1366 x58ud4r mobo from gigabyte and it's not a waste of money, i mean i always play on bad resolutions low settings before i build my own computer. And now all the games are now amazing with kick ass graphics on a 24* 1080p.
