Hard Drive Space

its like this simply...

my hard drive shows:

143 GB USED
152 GB FREE
...

I have tested that by selecting all things ((main folder)ALL!) and it said i had 124GB USED


can anyone explain me this?

there is always a small partition which take a few gb's

I think one is the used space when you take care of sectors used and the second no.

1 sector = 512 byte by default (i'm not sure but i think it's that) You can modify this value when you format a drive

When a sector is a bit used, (ex 12 bytes is used in), you can't use it an other time.
500 byte could be empty, but this space is wasted.

Windows can give 2 kinds of used space

You dont have to reformat...

Run Disk Defragmentor, Spyware, Malware, AntiVirus Scans, Disk Cleanup, Remove stuff + programs you dont need etc.

You dont have to reformat...

i did all that several times by now :b
plus i like to "start-over" with a computer xD
