can i ask for someone to install a mobile phone skin?

this would be hugely beneficial to possibly a few ppl.

not much effort required either really.

You mean a compact skin for people on mobiles?

I've been on gtas on my mobile and didn't notice any problems to be honest.

SMF has a built in theme for mobiles, it's just that it doesn't redirect mobiles to it.
