Freeware games that don't suck
« on: December 02, 2009, 06:44:41 AM »
Well I got this idea from another forum. So basically, this is going to be a list of some free games, which don't suck ass. Feel free to contribute in any way, because I won't list every single free game, only the ones which I have tested. Also, if you want to contribute, take the template at the end of this post. Thanks.

Oh and before I forget, only free games, no demos. Abondonware(games that once costed money, but made available for everyone are fine, like GTA 2).

Battlefield Heroes
Type: FPS
Description:
Comic style Battlefield. Two teams try to capture flag points, the more flag points your team has, the faster the enemy tickets will lower. Team with higher tickets at the end wins, if not the enemy team's tickets went to 0. Requires Internet Explorer or FireFox to play.

Combat Arms
Type: FPS
Description:
I don't know much about this game, just that it's a MMOFPS.

Dyson
Type: Simulation
Description:
Dyson is a really cool indie game, which even made it under a new name to steam. You start off with a little planet and have some kind off "space ships" which you can use to explore new planets or defend your own one, but there's already "defenders" for that, which can't move.

Frets on Fire
Type: Music
Description:
Well, Frets on Fire is like Guitar Hero, just for the PC. And it's free ofcourse. Never the less, I find this game harder than the normal GH. Also you can connect your GH guitar to your PC and play Frets on Fire with it.

Grand Theft Auto
Type: Sandbox, Action
Description:
Not much to say, I think everyone knows about this.

Grand Theft Auto 2
Type: Sandbox, Action
Description:
Same as Grand Theft Auto. Sequel...

Knytt Stories
Type: Jump 'n' Run
Description:
In Knytt Stories, each level is its own little adventure. One level is included with the game, where you have to stop a machine that draws the life out of the planet. Don't forget to download the expansion packs for additional stories.

Phun
Type: Physics
Description:
Phun, let's take a look at the name. Comes from physics and fun, which is definetely the best, short description for this game. You can build catapults, cars and whatever in a 2d sandbox.

Powder
Type: Physics
Description:
Powder is a really cool physics simulation. Like the name says, you can use different powders, like TNT or nitrous and pour them just into the world, or build a little cup to hold them together, then you can just use the fire material to burn them or let hot lava drop onto them. You can also share your creations online.

Project Torque
Type: Racing
Description:
Street racing game.

Quake Live
Type: FPS
Description:
Good old Quake 3, just online. Requires Internet Explorer or FireFox to play.
Website/Download: http://www.quakelive.com/
Screenshots: http://images.google.com/images?q=%22quake%20live%22

Runes of Magic
Type: MMORPG
Description:
Well, Runes of Magic is in my opinion one of the best free MMORPG's, though there's still too much bad about it. Anyways, like all other MMORPG's, you can create a character, fight monsters, do quests... Nothing much more to say about.

Tag: The Power of Paint

Tag delivers an innovative approach to multiple genres - platformer, puzzle, and first-person shooter - by allowing the player to manipulate the physical attributes of the game's environment using different colors of paint.

Trackmania Nations Forever
Type: Racing
Description:
Trackmania is definetely one of the coolest, but also freakiest, racing games ever made. Imagine: racing with a huge speed and then jumping over a ramp, flying through the air like a bird. That's Trackmania.

Warsow
Type: FPS
Description:
Warsow is a mix of Quake and Unreal Tournament, it's really fast placed. Definetely faster than any other FPS these days. Also it got a lot of variety, from simple dm, to something that's like counter strike. If you're into FPS games, try this one out.

the fuck you talking about  Battlefield Heroes sucks. So does combat arms (actually the GAME itself doesn't suck, the userbase sucks, and if you play well I hope you like modding accusations)

Hacking, when it's not stunting it's called hacking.

And yeah combat arms isn't as good as soldier front so i suggest adding that to the 1st post.

i haven't played SF but i've been told about it and.. there are way too many hackers on CA aswell as anyone that doesn't suck *i didn't on it* gets a lot of accusations like sweet said, though it did make me feel good being called a hacker :P

Like I said, I'd only add games that I've tested myself. That doesn't means I won't add any game listed by another user and that's what I just did.

/e Updated the code.

Solitaire doesn't sucks. :ninja:

But it's pretty obvious, since most OS's already have it installed.
