I think he's saying that a lot of people that follow the "metal culture", they're more likely to not go out and socialize.

Just as people who follow a gospel culture, are more likely to go to church, and people who follow an emo culture, are more likely to stay inside as well, or go to an emo circleslit cryfest.

The whole thing surrounding listening to metal is pretty stupid. People seem to assume that if someone listens to metal that's all they listen to, which simply isn't the case. I listen to The Clash and Incubus as much as I listen to Slayer or whatever, variety is still possible. And Liviu, don't be so ignorant, I listen to metal (not exclusively) and don't do any of those things. With lots of people music is about image and they listen to whatever music fits in with the image they'd like themselves to portray.

Hardly any of my friends listen to music I listen to, be it metal or just alternative music in general. I consider myself particularly keen on music though, people who aren't as into it will tend to listen to whatever is shoved in front of them, whatever is on the charts etc. Also, in England Indie isn't associated with being less shallow, it's just what everyone listens to who goes for whatever is popular at the time. Most of my friends listen to it though, I don't have any problem with people who do. Discrimination by the music people listen to is just as bad as any kind of blanket judging; it's all wrong.

I wouldn't say I judge people because of it.. but I might find it stupid if they are repetitive in what they listen to, and they don't explore music to find stuff they like.

f.ex my girlfriend has this one pink floyd album; wish you were here, and it's one of her favorite albums ever.. yet she hasn't even bothered to check out the other albums by pink floyd..

I guess I just like to explore music and find more artists I like

1. I listen to Disgorge.
2. Doesn't mean I am a psychotic serial killer who lives in a morgue.
2. Truth: I'm a student who has goals and ambition to go to collage/university.
3. Music doesn't shape your fate.

Music is a form of art, a form of expression and emotion which can be different in many ways yet still creative. Painting upon a canvas of silence.
Painting's were never judged the same way people are judged because of music. It's truly saddening.

I hate this. There were like 15 girls in my life whom I liked alot, and they liked  me, but when they found out I am listening to black and death metal, every of them dumped me. Now I have metal-liking gf for like 2 years.

You can judge people a bit, of course. As there are certain lifestyles that for no real reason go hand in hand with the music, but to judge someone by the music they listen to is a bit dodgy, and you shouldn't do it because although you might get it right 40% of the time, there are still people who don't follow.

I listen to screamo, emo, metal, drum n bass, ska, pop punk, pop, dance, trance.....and I dress like a skater or some form of.....preppy? like brand name jeans and tshirts.

I dunno if this is right but in my school the music taste minds alot. In my school we have like 4 different warzones lol. Techno, Rock, shit, and others . I'm one of the rock guys and it's not really that serious but this sometimes causes fights . for example what music is hardest to create and such stuff, k I'm going offtopic.

I do get judged irl for listening to stuff as slipknot and that kinda offensive hard rock but tbh I don't give a shit what they say.
