FIFA 09 or Pro Evolution Soccer 2009?

I've been a Pro Evo man for years, because I chose realistic and more enjoyable gameplay. It's been ages since I played FIFA though so I don't know how it is nowadays. FIFA is currently on sale already, Pro Evo's due to be released later this week.

If there are any other gamers out there who like the footyball, which would be your preference and why?

I prefer fifa. I dont care about realistic gameplay or better animation (which i doubt is better in pro evo, its just diffrent and weird) I just like the feeling of fifa + it was first football game i played.

FIFA was the first for me as well, way back on the mega drive days. But Pro Evolution came along and it just seemed a more enjoyable game to play - it was annoying to hit a shot in FIFA and there was a random massive curl on it. It seemed too user-friendly. I'm now conditioned to Pro Evo I guess, but I am considering asking my local games shop if I can play both in the shop to see which one to buy there and then

Fifa mate, the new generation consoles have returned the balance. The fifa 08 was just so much better than pro evolution, in everything ambiance of the stadium, realisticaly, graphics and soundtrack.
The new fifa is said to have improved on every parts of the game, while pro evo is just taking up the pace for new generations consoles.

I was expecting this to be a close battle but FIFA is getting overwhelming support - on Friday I'll hopefully get to play both and decide for myself which to buy.

You have an Xbox, why not download both of the demo's? I got the Fifa 09 demo myself, always played Fifa but I played PES once and that was pretty fun too. (I thought it was more easy though).

I guess you should choose which game you like the most because in the end, a new Fifa / PES just means better graphics and updates and not really differences in gameplay / feeling.
