I actually switched to Xfce now.

Also, DeaDBeeF, no need to look any further: http://deadbeef.sourceforge.net/

Do you know how to run DeaDBeeF commands from terminal? I've read there's deadbeef --nowplaying which I'd like to stick into the XFCE Panel General Monitor applet to get a now playing on the panel but everytime I try to run deadbeef from the terminal I get command not found.

Haven't used it myself, but it may help to either add "exec" before the deadbeef command or look if the binary is under "/usr/bin", then just use "/usr/bin/deadbeef --nowplaying".

Or you could create an alias for deadbeef, if that hasn't been done at the installation.

Jesus fucking christ you people are the absolute worst. You are like teen girls talking about which make-up to use. I use Ubuntu with Unity just to piss people like you off. Taking more time to customize your environment than actually using it is absolutely idiotic. More technology != easier life.

i cant tell if youre trolling or not but god forbid someone wants to customize their workspace the way they like it right?  you'd have an aneurysm if you visited a /g/ desktop thread

taking more time to customize your environment than actually using it is nearly as idiotic as spending hours upon hours upon hours landing stunts in decade old video games to impress the few remaining stragglers of a nearly dead community but i digress who really gives a fuck

yeah fuck those people customizing their cars instead of driving them what a waste of time fuckin nerds

I'm glad you saw the light and saw that my cause is right. I would even go as far as to say that trying to impress people with name calling Taiwanese knitting forums is even worse than wasting your time on old video games or attaching sick bodykits to Opel Corsas.

@torekk finally figured out the deadbeef problem, well more of a workaround really as I have no idea why the newer versions wouldn't be recognized in the terminal; removed the installation and installed an older version (0.5.1) and suddenly it ran from the terminal. stuck general monitor onto the xfce panel with the command deadbeef --nowplaying "%a - %t" and it worked.

Also I could've swore XFCE allowed terminal transparency? Must have been removed  :(

Take a look under Window Manager Tweaks, I had to enable the compositor for it to work.

Turns out transparency got removed from the stock gnome terminal which is what I had running. always assumed it was XFCE terminal running but it must of got broke off when I swapped between XFCE/KDE. Set default to XFCE4 terminal, did some more tweaking and I'm feeling pretty /comfy/ right now.

Hey torekk I noticed your screenfetch doesn't show GTK/Icon/Font etc like mine, to fix that download screenfetch-dev (https://github.com/KittyKatt/screenFetch/blob/master/screenfetch-dev), chmod+x it, rename it to screenfetch and replace the old screenfetch with it (/usr/bin) or stick screenfetch-dev wherever and set up an alias for it.

Went full Linux, stuck it on my SSD and reconfigured it again. Pretty /comfy/ v2

Also config'd Firefox up a little more and adapted some start page from dA to my own liking.
