Yea, I'm like... creating long ass documents out of pure wanted boredom obviously. Working with that software can be quite fun if you know it and are into media designing. It is by far the best software for layouts and I'm into this for some years already, so I'm just fine with using it. I hate MS Office/Open Office anyway.

You're really the only one I know who thinks that way. The InD classes we get at school are shit fuck boring things and we just procrastinate as much as possible as to not have to open that program again.

Educational classes won't teach you as much as you're learning alone. That's why it was always shit tbh.

In this case the classes are the only way I'd learn something about InDesign. I'd never even touch the program if I didn't go to the school I go to now.

As far as I know placing a text on a path.

You can extend a type field, so if your text is too long for the field you've chosen you can click a button and make a new field and the rest of the text shows up there automatically. They are connected so you can easily edit the text as well. You can also set text to go around pictures and stuff. So that if you have a massive wall of text and were like "huh, I want a picture right in the middle of this" you could just pluck it in and the text would adjust to your picture. It can do all of these in Photoshop as well, but it's just a lot of fucking work, and InDesign just has to tool to do a lot of this designing thing faster and easier. It can be useful as hell, but I hate the program because I hate journalism and that's what I associate it with.

Those Adobe softwares are split for a reason and each has different focus areas. Any of them is best at what they were programmed for. Working with them in cooperation is still quite comfortable. I find it better than having more stuff in just 1 software like Freehand back then. Workflow can go through clear stages like drawing something in AI, retouching it a little in PS and then throwing it together in ID to get it ready for printing.

In the end it all depends on your needs. PS is spread around the web most as it's the most simple to use. One usually doesn't need vector graphics for the web, therefore pixel ones are just fine.

Yes, you can't compare both software because they are aimed to two completely different things.
Once Photoshop is bitmap-based editing software with a wide range of possibilities, InDesign is specifically aimed for the press.

Oh yeah.. text wrap's a neat little thing they did, not neat enough to remember it though.
