I want to build a computer.
« on: August 31, 2008, 10:23:19 PM »
If anybody would be so inclined to pick out parts for me, I would greatly appreciate that and would be glad to return the favor with some graphics work or video/audio editing of any kind.

This is more important to me than getting a car, so don't worry about price. I shouldn't say that. Um, let's say I'm looking for anything in the $0 - $5,000 range. If it will be more than that, don't hesitate to include it and let me know about the price. I'm willing to splurge.

Adobe Photoshop, Sony Vegas, Adobe Illustrator, Sony Acid, Mozilla Firefox, iTunes, Winamp, Windows Movie Maker, Grand Theft Auto IV, Guitar Hero III... they all need to work very well on this. I really like it when there is no skipping or lagging, and my browser doesn't take more than five seconds to at least start loading a page. Here are the specs I require, go nuts:

    * Power Supply/PSU – Whatever is necessary.

    * Motherboard/Case – Um, whatever is necessary. Prefer capability for at least 2 Hard Drives, 8 USBs, 2 Optical Drives, and one 3.5" floppy. (I have a bunch of old DOS games that I still like.)

    * Processor/CPU – Don't care which brand, whichever suits me best I guess. At least 2.0 GHz.

    * RAM – at least 1 GB. Please.

    * Hard Drive/Hard Disk – One or two, at least 500 GB overall.

    * Optical Drive – Two please. I need to be able to read CD's and DVD's, as well as write CD's. I don't have any idea what the difference is between CD+R, CD-R, CD+RW, and CD-RW. Anyone want to elaborate?

    * Video Card/Graphics Card – Um, I edit videos, I like to watch High Quality Videos (and even the occasional XQ vid) and play videogames of course. Whatever is necessary for that.

    * Sound Card - I like sound. I intend to have a very very nice speaker system and be able to record and edit music on my computer. Do your worst. (I mean best, of course)

If anybody could help me pick out parts, that would be awesome. Please let me know if you can be of any help. And remember I can return the favor with graphics or video/audio editing.

I recommend you to get a new XFX 9-series video card (anything with a 9 in beginning), and some Kingston DDR3 RAM. Also if you want to edit videos seriously (like using Final Cut Studio 2 or something that "eats" mpre than Vegas) you should get something more than 2.0 Ghz. I suggest 2.6. All i listed is not going to be cheap, but that's just a recommendation.

the 9600 GT is pretty close to the 8800 GT and the 9800 GT is a little better than an 8800 GT. the 9800 GTX+ which is a good amout better than both of those cards is a fucking steal for the price it can be had these days (under $200) and can be overclocked mad

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814143149

if you dont wanna spend that much on a graphics card than the 9800 GT or 8800 GT will suit you well but i would put the extra money towards the GTX+ if your planning to keep your PC for a long time

and psycho, if i remember ill try to link you up to some parts tomorrow

Hey thanks man.

Is the 7.1 in the sound card version # or surround sound 7.1?

And Right now my monitor goes up to 1280x1024, but I'll get a new monito or two.

I don't like widescreen monitors all that much cause toolbars and shit already make it wide enough.
