Author Topic: HARD DISK PROBLEM =( (Read 1742 times)

i have a Local disk (C:), and hard drives D and E

i accidentally copied and pasted files to drive D, and i didnt know it was almost full like 200mb space left and i pasted a 200mb file as well... then my PC SHUTS DOWN and then the drives D and E cannot be detected.. =(

i cannot see them in MY COMPUTER too =(

any help?

i tried going to the CMOS setup and modified the Pri, Sec whatever there to AUTO DETECT

but still, it says NOT DETECTED.... HELP PLEASEEEEE =(

maybe was it 1 harddrive splitted up in C,D and E

i have two hard disks

one is the drive C (local disk)

second is the drives D & E (they are just one hard disk, just only divided)

the problem is my pc cannot detect the drives D & E =(

Try repartioning it. Like making it into one harddrive again. Although I dunno if you can do that if its not detectable.

try connecting it in another PC to check them detect in BIOS.

Fire up with partition magic or use the windows commandline (not the GUI version) and try to CD to the drives.
Also check the device manager - if the hdd exists remove it and reboot.

Using command prompt to find a drive is quite simple. Windows is a bit strange with it, but anyway:

Start -> Run -> cmd

A command prompt box will appear.

The command line will be something like C:/Documents and Settings/user/ depending on your version of windows.
the C drive is no good to us, so do this:

Type in the drive letter followed by a colon, for example

E:

If an error appears then you know you can't cd into it, though Fox telling you to CD into it wouldn't completely be true as you need to change drives first

thats actually the problem, the hard disks are missing or cannot be detected

i already used the cmd, "cannot find the drive specified"

the drives have gone missing when i was transferring a file from drive C to E whereas E was almost full
then it started to hang and a blue screen appeared
then i restarted it and then BOOM cannot detect the drive E =(

So are they detected outside of windows? Load up BIOS (Basic Input Output System) before you load up windows, there will normally be an option to "enter setup" or something similar, don't change anything just see if it is detected.

Alternatively you can use a partition manager to see if it is there.
