It's very bad press for GTA, though. It's all very well saying you watched 'Resorvoir Dogs' and were inspired from that to do some random crime spree, there wouldn't be an uproar about it, but video-game inspired violence is getting hard to defend. When I say that I mean it's easy just to blame a game instead of blaming these stupid kids or their even stupider parents.

In defence of GTAIV:

No crowbars in GTAIV apart from the title sequence I think, the first loading screen? Three guys around a crate or something.

Broomsticks - they're in GTAIV but it's those old guys sweeping the street, you can't use them. I've tried.

Something we must consider here: mob mentality.

Maybe one or two of them are sick and twisted enough to do it, but when there's a group of folk people tend to 'go with the flow'. I'm not excusing their behaviour but we don't know these guys at all. All we know is that either one, some or all of them are blaming a video game for their antics when the problem is much more simple than that. Whether it's a creative outlet, or not enough excercise/sport, or just simply not getting their hole, their boredom led to them mugging a random guy, knocking his teeth out, robbing a woman and attempting to carjack a car, as well as taking a baseball bat and smashing a van in.

video games are easier to bash because you have the freedom and choice what to do whereas in movies our watchign it. therefoere you can't blame it on a movie as easily a game. such as the Columbine shootings and the game Doom.

its kids like this...at leas tin GTA the player has a choice to kill or not... if he wanted to he doesnt have to play missions drive recklessly or anything. he can walk legally. yet you see games like, super columbine massacre RPG still floating around beneath the surface idk if anyone has seen the game? I have, my nephew downloaded it while he was doign a report on the shootings and he was disgusted. he immediatly flushed it from his computer.
