Need Quick Rendering Help...
« on: May 31, 2008, 02:51:36 PM »
I made a little 2 minute San Andreas video with some simple text effects and now I want to make the actual video file.

I chose a simple MP4 (640x480, 128kbps audio) and it was going to take 20+ minutes (time kept going up). Do I really need to wait this long or what? It can't take that long for a damn 2 minute video!

Expect it to take way longer than 20 minutes, I've waited for up to 5 hours for videos to finish .

Yes, that sounds about right. It takes about a hour and half to render a medium quality .wmv, so a MP4 should take about... 2 and half hours (thats a guess, I've never rendered MP4)?

EDIT :: Dang it Venom, why'd you have to beat me to it.

Some high spec movies can take up to 20 hours to render ONE frame.  So at 30fps, thats 600 hours per second.

I just finished the video on draft quality, I guess it ain't too bad. I just needed a little video that was quick to make, its only 9MB too.

If I counted right, that would make 72 000 hours for two mins, which is 3 000 days. Over 8 years for two minutes, that sounds like bullshit dude.

Actually it's 8.21 years if it's 3000 days... That sounds like bullshit (like you said...)
