Problems from downgrading Vista HP to XP

I was trying today along with Brandon6199 to downgrade the shitty vista I have on my HP PC. When we tried to install it we got the BSOD and we read up on it relating to a sata common problem and a auto enable in the bios for it. But we couldn't solve this problem to let me downgrade and now I am stuck with my vista PC which I cannot run any game... for the nvidia drivers are shitty + windows installer stopped working YAY! So now my computer thinks I have a 10 mb GPU, and my computer is often laggy, as it lags in desktop and mozilla often. Any help or ideas?

I just had to do this on a new laptop I bought my son. I had to wipe out Vista, install XP and go find all the drivers I needed to have everything work in XP. Took me about a day to do. Just a lot of searching.

Load default Bios settings, format your HDD through dos, then get a new copy of XP (the usual places) install it without formatting, in windows go to device manager then right click your device check the Hardware id like this :
google for : VEN_14E4&DEV_1696 ( your number should be there ofcourse ) and download the drivers they mention.

Sigh... Most people should understand this but I'll explain it for the morons who don't get it. Imagine an os is like a software update. say I have flash 8. I decide I don't want flash 8 and I want to downgrade to flash 5. So I download flash 5 but it won't let me downgrade OMFG! That's what an os is like. You can not downgrade a superior (more recent) os to a lower (older) os. Thus, you can not downgrade from vista to xp. the only way to get xp is to format or buy a new hard drive/partition. I thought everyone knew that but apparently not...

How can it "not let you" format. Your comp either has issues or you're incompetant.

alien: wtf? even the firmwares can be "downgraded", the os is basicly just writing its data to the harddisk partition on a filesystem which you formated before. Then its writing to a sepcial sector (MBR) which explains your bios how to load the OS. You could even put "pong" or "frogger" on your hdd as a kind of OS. There are also PC's who don't have any OS. An OS should NEVER EVER lock the hardware in any way.
However, Microsofts formating tools can't format the filesystems which were created during Vista installations, you can still use another OS/Boot-CD/Bios/... to format with a new filesystem.
//Edit: You can "downgrade" (install an older version) of flash btw...

flash was just an example. I know you can do that with flash. Most updates you can't.
