Sky Modification
« on: February 24, 2008, 09:48:37 AM »
Hello.

Does anyone know how to modify the timecyc to get only a blue sky with clouds? I would need a timecyc which changes the original weather of the replay into a blue sky with clouds @ noon. Samurai was only able to make it to show two kinds of weather; clear blue sky and the blue sky with clouds on it. Unfortunately it changes the replay's weather (where for example it's raining) to the clear blue sky, instead of the blue sky with clouds. If you have recorded the replay with the blue sky with clouds however, it won't change it.

Any ideas/tips would be greatly appreciated!

I added the timecyc incase someone could take a look.

I'm just speculating here but I think the replay file is only a list of redirections. Redirections to timecyc.dat, carcols.dat, gta3.img, co-ordinates etc. So if we could edit the .rep file we could probably switch the redirection code for time in the .rep. But since we can't, we have to change the code which the .rep redirects to in the timecyc, to the one that codes for the weather we want to have.

As for you Brulla, just change all the weather configurations in to the one you want. It should work.

Already changed the timecyc to all cloudy afternoons, and to no avail. rainy reps are sunny, but sunny isn't cloudy, and sunny reps aren't cloudy either

Indeed this would be a handy power to have. I've tried a few methods out myself but to no avail.

It's impossible. The weather is saved into your rep like your players movement, theres nothing you can do to change it.

Maybe you can, when you find out how's the .rep file crypted. So you decrypt it and yeah, can change everything and crypt it again.

I reckon it'd be possible with memory editing, but with my limited knowledge of it, I haven't been able to do it (I've been able to make a tool that changes the weather, but it doesn't affect the reps... the question is why - whether the weather info stored in the rep is overwriting the updates my tool makes so quickly that you don't notice any change in the replays, or because when viewing a replay the weather info is stored in a different memory address, or ... etc. As I said, I don't really know much of what I am talking about)

I've never edited timecyc.dat. But isn't there something similar to the carcols' rgb values in it?

You can change the weather of the replay into clear blue sky for example, so think again.

I had some potential results with the old Weather Tool 1.5. I was able to get clouds into a replay which was recorded with a clear blue sky, but the clouds kept flashing. I think it's worth looking into, could you bright people take a look at it?
