Nope on both accounts, I dont play by tabs, I usually play by ear lol, try and figure it out, I'll give you a hint  its in the key of Bb, which is the 6th fret on the high E string in standard tuning.

I learned the solos today to the following songs

Crystal Mountain
Misanthrope
Scavenger Of Human Sorrow

all by Death, but unless I get a different guitar with a better neck access I wont be able to play Scavenger since...the end of it is really high lol.

The solo or the entire song? because the rhythm at least for me is pretty straight forward.

I do what Alexi Laiho does most of the time, I just throw in a CD and jam over it and see what I can come up with, whether it be shred or rhythm.

Okay, so I want to learn more of scales and stuff. Because right now, all I know is how to play g major in 4 positions and the major scale for everything else in the first position (with the low e string root). Also I know how to do that with minor, minor pentatonic, and blues.

My question is though, where the hell do I start? And is there a particular guide or something?

These are the modes, I dont know what the positions really mean, I just use them to fit the key. The numbers are your fingers, not the frets. That's like my guitar bible
