The sea is only blue because the oxygen in the water scatters more of the blue sunlight than the other colours, and the ripples on the surface reflect the colour of the sky which is also blue because the red, orange and yellow lightwaves pass through it more easily. The gas molecules absorb more of the blue light and thats generally what you see hanging around in the sky, making it look blue as well .
