Author Topic: Vice city won't run. (Read 1995 times)

I'm having a problem right here,
I can only get into vice city's Start menu.
When i press New game, or Load game, the screen will be black, and it won't load the game. =/

I updated my drivers etc.

Does someone know about this problem?

Did you install any mods or something like that?

Are you using a illegal copy of it, or a purchased copy?

If you've obtained an illegal copy I'm really not surprised that it isn't working.

Try uninstalling the game and reinstalling it with no changes to the game or files whatsoever. And then start a new game and check if that works.

Also there is a patch for the game. Updates the version from 1.0 to 1.1, maybe try that out.

The patch is for graphics corruption on old cards using old drivers. It does nothing of use if you're not encountering that issue.

Delete gta_vc.set in your GTA Vice City User Files and see if that does anything.

Yeah but the graphics corruption is what used to keep my VC from loading right until I patched it

It depends on if his copy of Vice City was previously working.

Ugh, omfg.
I found the problem... Sadly i'm on Vista.
I tried on XP and it worked.. >_> this is always hapening to me..

I've googled some info, and people are saying Vice city doesn't work on Vista?
I've tried to run as Win98/ME, win 2000, / XP sp2.
All don't work.. =[

Anyone of you running VC on Vista?

Yes, me. Delete gta_vc.set, run Vice City under Windows 98 compatibility and configure the game. After that, turn off compatibility and run it normally.

That might do something.

I think i'm missing some serious files, my map file size is only 519 MB.
So i need to download VC somewhere..
