Visual Basic 6 / DirectX8 Tutorials
« on: July 31, 2007, 11:11:27 AM »
>> Introduction <<

Hey guys,

I m currently really really boored and since I can't be arsed to do anything right now, I just opened a thread!
This whole thread is going to be split into some smaller Tutorials. I hope that we atleast have a pretty basic game at the end or atleast a tiny "cool" project.

Please Remember: You can ALWAYS request tutorials here. But please don't come along with questions like: "How do I make a game like Half-Life 2 but better?"

>> Requirements <<

If you are interested in following the tutorials you should have:

Hardware:

- DirectX8 Graphics card or above
- 256MB RAM

Software:

- A working Windows XP SP2
- A working version of Visual Basic 6
- Minor tools such as: Photofiltre, ZModeler, Notepad, Calc
- A pencil and a paper (or just use paint)

Skills:

- Basic math skills
- You should know how to use Google
- You should know how to use Windows XP

For the Software above you could try the following links:

http://lix.in/36fac1 (Visual Basic 6)
http://photofiltre.free.fr/utils/pf-setup-en.exe (Photofiltre)
http://www.zmodeler2.com/files/zmodeler_v107.exe (ZModeler)

ZModeler and PhotoFiltre are freeware, However: Visual Basic 6 is not a freeware. The link provided was found on the msdn, posted by an MVP (Microsoft Valuable Programmer / MSDN Moderator) who was saying that the version also works with Vista since the CD Version seems to be not working. I m not sure if the above version works. On the legal hand, I think its ok to provide the link cause Visual Basic 6 was replaced by the .NET series years ago and there is no legal way to buy it anymore.
