How to Make MTA: SA Maps
----------------------------------------
Ok guys, another of my tutorials, not in video this time but easy enough to follow
Anyway, this guide will show you the basics of making maps
----------------------------------------
Part 1. Making a New Map File
[attachment=5573:mta_screen0001.jpg]
[attachment=5574:mta_screen0002.jpg]
Hit 'New Map' on the Map Editor start screen and then name your map whatever you want.
----------------------------------------
Part 2. Adding a Spawnpoint
[attachment=5575:mta_screen0003.jpg]
First you will see this screen, it is the basis of all adding/removing/changing items in a map. Go to 'Add Element' and press Enter.

Next go to 'Create Spawnpoints' (Simple logic eh?)
[attachment=5577:mta_screen0005.jpg]
Ok, now see we have an NRG displayed, use the mouse to move this around, and use w/a/s/d keys to move around the landscape. Once you find a nice location, click the NRG and it will be placed.
Also note with a spawnpoint you can rotate it using the mouse wheel or CTRL + Left / Right.

I decided to put mine atop the LS Tower. You can put yours wheever you want. If you want to place more than one spawn, either duplicate the previous one with Shift + F9 or go through the above steps again.
Using Home/End will raise or lower the spawnpoint. This can be handy so dont forget.
----------------------------------------
Part 3. Adding Checkpoints
[attachment=5579:mta_screen0007.jpg]
Go back to the 'Add Element' screen and select 'Add Checkpoints' now, like with your spawnpoint, place the blue checkpoint marker wherever you want it to be. I chose this stretch of road. Also with checkpoints you can change it to a circular one for plane checkpoints or precision stunt markers by tapping F12. Also hold CTRL and use the mouse wheel to change the color of the checkpoint.
----------------------------------------
Part 4. Adding Pickups
a) Vehicle Pickups:

Vehicle Pickups change your current car in MTA to the one you specify. They are placed from the 'Add Element -> Add Pickups -> Vehicle Change Pickup' Selection menu. Once placed, hit F3 and select 'Change Vehicle' then fidn the car you want it to chnage you to, i chose to change me to an infernus.
Again, these can be raised and lowered with Home/End buttons. Holding Shift while moving increases speed, Holding X will decrease the speed if you need to be precise.
Nitro Pickups:

Available from the same menu as the Car Pickup, these are simply like checkpoints, place them, duplicate, no extra settings to be done.
c) Repair Pickups:

Same as before, just place them where needed.
----------------------------------------
Part 5. Placing Objects
[attachment=5586:mta_screen0013.jpg]
Go to 'Add Element -> Add Objects' then hit 'Browse' on the next menu.
[attachment=5587:mta_screen0014.jpg]
[attachment=5588:mta_screen0015.jpg]
Browse the object menus until you find a suitable object, i have chosen 'Structures -> Ramps -> waterjump1' as my object, hit X and position it like any other object.
[attachment=5589:mta_screen0016.jpg]
Now, you can do many things with objects, heres a quick guide:
Raise Object: Home
Lower Object: End
Move Object North (+X): Up
Move Object South (-X): Down
Move Object East (+Z): Right
Move Object West (-Z): Left
Rotate around X: CTRL + Left/Right
Rotate Around Y: CTRL + Up/Down
Rotate Around Z: CTRL + Home/End
Holding Shift while doing any of these will increase the speed.
Holding X while doing these will slow it down for more precise movements.
Duplicating:
F9: Duplicate Object
Shift + F9: Duplicate Object and move it straight away
CTRL + F9: Duplicate Object in the same position as the original (Be careful doing this as it is hard to tell where 2 objects are if you forget about this, always move the second object straight after duplicating)
----------------------------------------
Hope this tutorial helped a few people, hope to see some people making some nice maps for the MTA server too
