Hello guys, just doing a quick post as I got home for a few hours from the army this evening. Evening relaxations are from 6.30PM to 9.30PM and as I live only twenty kilometers away from the barracks I have a unique change to go home unlike most people who are from 50 to 500 kilometers away from home. I'm doing pretty good and I've somehow got used to the army pace but I don't want to tell too much now so I'll just wait till August 1st once I get to my second weekend holidays. I had one last weekend but I was too busy getting drunk that I didn't have time to write to you guys so I'll just do it next week. As far as I know most of you people don't go to army where you live at and have no idea what it's like so make sure to check out later! Also check out my sig for some army look.  :cc_detective:

Love you guys, gotta be back in an hour so... See ya later alligator! :ninja:

I've been in the army for four weeks now in two bouts of two weeks and I'm now having my second weekend holidays. I was locked up for for the first and the third weekend with the first two weeks being literally locked up at the barracks without the ability to leave for any reason and the last two weeks I've been able to leave to go home/grab a beer/see my friends for three hours every evening once the service for the day is done. It's not as much as it sounds as I gotta get a ride out of there and be really sure to be back in time so practically I have from 7 PM to 9 PM to do whatever I'm about to do.

The service for the day starts at either 6 PM or 5.30 PM (Tuesday and Thursday, 30 minutes for a one kilometer jog and an optional shower afterwards). In the morning we have 30 minutes to do our bed, put the service clothes on and do whatever you usually do in the bathroom like taking a piss and washing your face and teeth and so on. Take into the consideration that there are 180 guys doing it all simultaneously with two bathrooms available (8 showers, four urinals and eight toilet seats) so half an hour ain't that much, I usually have only from three to ten minutes of spare time in the morning which you can basically spend sitting since you're not allowed to use any electronic devices at any service time.

The first week we got the 7.62 RK 62's (click) and got to strip them apart and clean all the parts and learned the basic details of it and also got to shoot some blank rounds. The basic stuff. The second week we got to shoot some real bullets and adjust the crosshairs properly, I shot 82/100 the first time with ten bullets and at the second shootings last week I got 86/100 which is a bit above average but nothing special. Four of them were 10's though which was a bit special according to the staff sergeant who showed me a thumbs up after he had counted the points.

Damn it guys I have so much more to tell and I wish I had more time, I barely scratched the surface and I'd like to tell you about the new friends I've made, corporals of ours and the overnight lairs and the strict general discipline out there and so on... I've also got to experience personally why the fuck every war movie has a love story and why all the soldiers tend to be pretty religious. The army hasn't been a physical challenge to me at all, it's all just mental stuff going around when you're taken away from home for weeks and don't get to see your friends or family and don't know the people you're out there with.

By the way I didn't get into the vehicle company that I was trying to go to, instead I'm in the tank troops now which is considered more badass but I don't think I'll be able to get the driving licences and without them I don't know if I'm that interested in the leadership training either since I now have a change to go with half a year of service (all the driving related stuff and leadership stuff are for a year which I prepared for). There's also a girl I'm having a thing going on with now and I don't know what to do since I'd like to be with her as soon as possible but I don't know if it's wise to skip a unique change to get some free education which as an extra is closely related to the stuff I'm going to study in the university, all the leadership and management stuff.

Next weekend I'll try to write some more about what was going inside my head especially within the first two weeks and how it was like getting used to being isolated from pretty much everything from my usual lifestyle. This seems like one messy half assed post to me so feel free to ask in case you're interested or didn't catch something.

Take care, enjoy your freedom and consider how privileged you are to be able to do whatever you want while I'll be camping in a middle of nowhere for four days (from Tuesday to Friday) with three to five hours of sleep and only getting to rip off the 10kg battle vest for the night haha. Love you guys.
