@Daffy:

Are you going for the 1440p one for own satisfaction and for the sake of quality only? I think there's maybe up to 10 (active) people maximum registered on GTAS using a screen with a resolution that high. Even those probably wouldn't download it as the file should be quite big. Depending on the video length though.

Is it worth going for the 1440p one if one only has a 1080p screen? Surely it'll have a higher video bitrate, but the video must be downscaled anyway.

You know how you want some of these videos from 2005/2006 to be at least widescreen or HD? they could've been.. it just wasn't the standard. Thats what Daffy is doing, providing an option that'll be a standard in the near future.

IMO VC is not worth watching in 1440p and not even in 1080p unless you are using allbeast's VC HD.

If you had a PC that could fraps and then render HD back in 2005 then good for you. I didn't.

Yes Beat I know that, but that didn't answer my questions.

If thats the question, then in my opinion yes it's worth it. Thats how "super-sampling" was born to replace AA in video games (which was very stupid), what it did was that it runs the game at twice it's original resolution or even four times it's original resolution and re-scales it to your native resolution and as a result you get superb quality that you don't even need AA anymore. But as I said it was stupid in video games because it's quite resource heavy to run a demanding game at twice your native resolution let alone four times your native resolution.

I figure the very same concept applies to videos, I'd say yes it's worth it even if you have a 1080p screen.

Recordings with something like 32x CSAA don't have noticeable AA issues, therefore the edges should look just fine and sharp in 1080p too. Downscaling could possibly improve the edges a tiny bit according to the super sampling model, but I am questioning it being soooo much better. Considering the file size being bigger, it might not be worth it to go for the higher resolution one. I assume it'd just look a little sharper due to the higher bitrate.

I understand why the high resolution would be desired  but it is not necessary. I'm pretty sure most people here wouldn't complain with a 720p or 1080p youtube link, and then told to wait a day for a 1440p download link. It's your choice though, but it's obvious that the higher the resolution, the higher the likeliness for issues, as 720p/1080p has minimal issues at the worst of times.

A month ago, June 1st I graduated from high school or upper secondary school or whatever you're used to calling it, it's the school I used to go from 16 to 19 years old. I graduated with pretty good grades, on the matriculation examinations I did the advanced math, physics, chemistry, English and Finnish and on the scale from 4 to 10 I got 7 from chemistry and 8 from the rest (C for chemistry and M for the rest for any Finnish folks that might be reading). To be honest I have no clue how international our school system is so to put it briefly I studied the hardest subjects available while still getting above average grades and I'm happy with the results considering the amount of work I put in which was close to zero compared to a lot of people who quit social life and even hobbies in order to read more and get ready for the examinations.

On the left is my 21-year-old older brother and on the right my little brother for 17 years. I'm the shortest of the trio and the youngest is actually the tallest. The direct sunshine messed up the photo a bit, we don't really look that pissed off.  :P

June 28th was the end of my three months of working at my father's agriculture factory as a warehouse guy. I had started working April 2nd, a week after finishing the exams. Enjoyed it a lot and working with 40 to 60 year old people was refreshing and one of the funniest experiences of my life, every day was different and full of laughter and getting paid for that was a top notch ride for me. I also progressed a lot when it comes to working with wood and metal and basic handcraft stuff.

Earlier this week, July 2nd I got a place from the technical university of Tampere to study Knowledge Management. Seeing my name at the list of accepted students was just astonishing and I think it kinda wrapped up the last three years in the best way I could ever imagine... All the hard work was there and I'm safe for the next six years and ready to open up a new page in my life. What's succeeding without a little bragging, so a lot of my friends didn't get into a school at all and a lot of them had studied shitloads for the entering exams and even attended paid courses to prepare. I was busy working.  :cc_detective:

However, the university studying will only kick off August 2014. Until then I'll be in the army, which I'll leave to next Monday and attend for 346 days. A lot of countries have no compulsory military service so basically how it goes here is that you're bound to attend for six, nine or twelve months in the service depending on what you're going to do there or what you're forced to do. Obviously a lot of people try to get it easy with the six months but as every position needs to be filled, a lot of them will stick for 12 months against their will but that's just how it goes. I'm looking forward to getting into the leadership training and getting driving licences for trucks along with the competences to work as a truck driver which cost shitloads today in Finland. It's a 12 month job but I'll be getting nearly 10 000 euro's worth for free and the leadership skills might come handy when it comes to getting a job in the future.

Basically you're in the army for the weekdays and have free weekends. I'll be getting home pretty much every weekend except the first one and except the weekends which are spent on camps which might last from a week to a few weeks. As far as I know we'll get off Fridays at about 5 PM and will have to get back to the barracks Sunday 10 PM.
Oh yeah, you gotta shave your head before showing up. Took care of that earlier today.  :euro:

Feel free to follow on Instagram from my signature in case you're interested, I'll put up some army related pictures along the year. Take care guys, hope you are doing well!

You seem to have figured your priorities in life, which is great. Congratulations on your graduation! That army thing sounds like it can be a nice experience, since you got your weekends free.  :a-cheer:

PS: Your hair is so white :O
