This might let you see him a little better and maybe you will see why I do what I do with regards to his demeanor and some other people's demeanor if you can figure them all out. As a writer, to know your character better in and out, the better you can write about him and create his personality different from you own, thus easily writing his habits, his thoughts, and his morale.
So here is a start of a work I am currently on. It is a different line of story than what I have created, but I wanted to capture something with this, almost like a cartoony day about him.
I guess you can also consider this a work in progress as I will update the story as I go along, and since I am sharing it here in the expression section, when completed it will be available for download, because I know already I will not be able to fit it all in a single post.

The big guy just wanted some rest now. It was still fairly dark, but the dawn just started peeking through the bleak ink of night. All the fighting and the saving of people during the night did nothing to hurt Payton in any way, but he knew that he could exhaust himself, and his galloping through the city did good to tire him. He was ready for some rest, so landing on the far side of the apartments he slowly drug himself to the trash chute. With a weak hobble he leapt over the side and down the chute.
Meanwhile in her apartment, Julie was up and bright as day. She had already had a good morning start at 4:30 in the morning, had taken a shower, freshened up, and even began cooking breakfast. She was in the middle of throwing out some trash when she heard approaching thumps coming from the chute. And as she went to open the chute she got a complete surprise.
His body caught the out set of the chute as she began to open it. He slid on his belly through the opening, which was smaller than his body, so his body melted through so he could get in. She was surprised to find a rush of bloody slime coming through all of a sudden. It was a goopy flow and as it hit the floor it began to quickly reform itself into his body. Payton came in feet first and face down. The blob came to a quick stop as his human form finally emerged, with his naked body lying belly first and his face to the ground.
He let out a low, lazy groan and equally as lazy began to raise himself up on his arms and turn to look at Julie with sleepy countenance. “Garrgh.” He yawned, “Yarrrwn.” Strings of gooey slime clinging between his jaws and slimy teeth, he sat on his hind legs and rested with his arms to the ground being sleepy headed in front of Julie.
“Morning sweetie,” Julie paused in her cooking of eggs, while in a denim apron, and put her spatula down to pet Payton on his big bloody head.
“I already made up my bed, but I had the couch pulled and ready just in case. Looks like you had a good night.”
He shook his head noddingly.
“Well then you should rest.” She leads him into the adjacent living room, where the light from the kitchen was barely shining, so it was dark and cool. In the middle of the room, in front of the big TV, the couch sat opened and bedded with a thick comforter and big fluffy pillows.
Payton, on all fours, followed her with his eyes closed. He could not see it, but he propped himself up on the bed of the couch and sleepy slid under the sheets from the side. It took him a while to find the pillow side and Julie could see a big lump in the sheets looking for the opening. Eventually he found where to lay his big gooey head and the instant he hit the pillows he was out like a light. “Oarraghghhhh,” and a couple of groans and he was off dreaming.
