Tutorial: WMV Extreme 720p Quality
« on: April 18, 2007, 01:10:29 PM »
This tutorial will hopefully learn  you how to achieve the best possible quality with the wmv (Windows Media Video) format.

Step 1: You're gonna need this to be able follow the tutorial.
• The Huffyuv Codec
• Windows Media Encoder

Step 2:
[/b] Now let's render (y)our video, i could've written pages up and down but just follow the what the pictures tells you.

Hit ok and render the movie.

Step 3: Open Windows Media Encoder and once again just follow the pics, everything is pretty simple unless your movie is in 25fps, i'll add some help for that once i find out how to.

That's all, be aware that this requires some heavy hardware for a proper playback.

That'll be different from clip to clip cause some needs a higher bitrate but somewhere between 45-50mb wouldn't be too far away.
Keep in mind that this tutorial is for quality-freaks like me

Thanks, though i don't feel it's overkill.
I download movies in the best possible quality, that way i enjoy it more than i would enjoy to watch it with poor quality... this gives the movies even more enjoyment as i see it

I do render with 25 fps, i haven't used this myself cause there's this preset in Windows Media Encoder that keeps not letting me change the fps.

What about the playback because some videos lag in WMP or Winamp but if you play them in VLC they play perfectly. (Except Leftovers) So if you use this tutorial will your videos lag in WMP or Winamp?

If you don't have problems with 720p Xvid and x264 movies you won't have a problem with this.

Daffy, a great add to the tutorial would be to upload an example of the outcome.

Hey, I have a question. May I know what card is better, my Radeon x300 or Plumpegg's card?

A 11,5 minutes long video, 1024x768 solution, what do you say, which size would it have with these settings.
