Vice City GTATitles.mpg Effect
« on: January 12, 2007, 12:35:18 PM »
Can somebody write a tutorial, how the effect out of the GTATitles.mpg video from Vice City is working? If you have Vice City, you can find it GTA Vice City\Movies\GTATitles.mpg.

With this effect, only a part of the picture will be shown. The other part is black. This is realized with VC typical logos/things/pictures/so on.

IMO if i want to create those pictures, i think i can use photoshop  for that ... but 100% i doesn't know, how.

Yeah, the video in the backround is playing ... that are not no-movement-pixels ..

hope i understand you right, and you mean that

Thanks

Hmm .. edit:

if you the black part of the pics mean, they don't move ...

I'll make a tut if you don't get this:

1. Get the image of the piece you want cut out, then make a photoshop file with the same resolution you recorded at.  Basically, get a completely black background then cut out the shape you want, however you want.  After that, make all of the area you cut out transparent then save the picture...png, or whatever supports transparencies.

2. In Vegas, you can just have two tracks, the bottom one the video, and the top one as the image that you saved earlier.  The video should show through the transparent bits.

Let me know if you don't get it, or if it doesn't work .

The Vegas part is not my problem, the photoshop one is it .. i don't really have much experience with it .. dunno how to cut pictures, or forms out of them ...

Use a mask. Its a simple black / white image. just like an alpha channel. Then you have to link your video to the mask.
