Computer Troubles
« on: November 08, 2006, 12:17:13 PM »
Ok, well I started my computer and it just stopped at the intel pentium 3 screen

I tried 3 times, but it all didn't work...

I think it's my processor, since it is a bit old.

Luckily, I have another processor (same as the one that broke) but I don't know where it is, so I might be on this shitty computer for a while.

I hate my computer

from that "vague" descrition it sounds more like a HDD fault - corrupt OS or sector etc...

If it was that, I usually get farther than that (the OS choosing screen) and my processor has been getting slower ever since last week.

besides, I couldn't even get to place I would need to reformat.

Format it - stick the boot disc in or your windows cd and follow the instructions - you will get a chance to do this after the bios check has run through

forgot something

well, I was on earlier this morning (im on again now ) but it kinda froze for a second, a blue screen popped up and it said (I think, im not sure)

"dumping physical memory" (or something to that effect) I shut it off afterwards, and then it just started getting stuck on the intel pentium 3 screen.

I've had that before after long sessions on it - i think it's just emptying the cache .

You can add more physical memory by increasing your virtual mem settings ........

Right click my computer , performance settings , go to Advanced , open the settings tab and click advanced again .

In here you'll see the virtual memory bar at the bottom - increase that ! what your doing is essentially using some of your HDD space as Ram    bump it up by about a gig if you can .
Of course i realise that may be difficult if you can't get the OS to load - but at least you know for next time

its getting stuck at the Intel Pentium Screen, this is before his OS boots, or it reads the HDD or the CD rom drive, just try messing around in the bios, and if that dont work, Remove a stick of memory, and if that dont work, stick that stick back in and remove the other stick, then it should work
