Well first you record them, then you shrink the vids (personally i use this) and then you use a program like vegas to join them, add a soundtrack and effects.

The replay saving is done when you are not the editor and you want to send  the replay to the one who's editing,so he can record it at the resolutin he wants and etc.If you want to save replays use S.A.R.A.H or just copy them from your GTA:SA user files folder in My documents.

Ok. First off you need to save your stunts. Im assuming youve done this already. You then need to put them into the GTA:VC/LC/SA user files section. Rename the replay to 'replay.rep'. Enter the game and hit F3. This will start your replay. When you see the stunt coming up, start recording. Use your mouse to pan the player and hold both Left and right mouse buttons and drag to zoom in/out. Once youve recorded the stunt, hit record again to stop. Record anything extra like cinematics.
Then you need to import the vid into a video editing program.
If your new, I wouldnt recomend Vegas. It can be quite complicated if you dont know what your doing.
Have a play about in Windows Movie Maker first. Do a few short clips set to music etc etc... Just get used to the interface, its generally the same through all editing software.
Once your happy with that get something like Ulead Video Studio 9. Its a simple program to use and easy to make vids in.
When you start to get serious about editing, then get Sony Vegas 6. Read a few tutorials from Daffy and mark and have a play around.
Also have a browse on the www.own-age.com forums to help you with video editing :)
Basically the vid process goes something like this:
1.Stunt
2.Record stunts
3.Work out details about the vid, ie: Name, Music, Intro ideas etc etc....
4.Work out how you can arrange the stunts to fit the music
5.Insert the records into the program
6.Do any synchronizing, titleing and naming needed
7.Make the credits
8.Render the video using the best possible settings (Daffys is pretty good)
9.Upload the video to a host ie: TGA or Filefront

Hope that helps :)

thanks a lot to both of you this really clears things up for me, thanks again :D

but why would you put your recorded stunts in the user files section?
to clear things up i did this:
-did a stunt
-started replay so i could see it again
-recorded that replay with fraps
couldn't you just edit the stunts in one stunt video right away?
did i go wrong anywhere?

and another unrelated(is it?) stupid question:
i now have the problem with the 'replay' sign blinking in my recorded files
how can i make it go away?

thanks for reading

You don't put the recorded stunts in the user files section, the user files folder is the default location for the replay,so if you for example do a stunt, you save the replay by pressing F2 ,you go to the user files ,copy replay.rep and send it to another guy so he can see it on his computer aswell.

I didn't understand your editing question, you just record the stunts ,fraps puts them in a folder u choose but they are very big because there's no time to compress them,so you need to shrink them first before you can use a program to join them and add some music. So no you can't make a whole stunt movie with just SA :)

As for the blinking 'replay' text download the attachment and put it in your GTA:SA folder/text (replacing it with your old american.gxt)

lol no :) You record the stunt with fraps and then you do whatever you want with it,i gave some advice about editing and such in previous posts

San Andreas as everyone knows has a REPLAY function and it records the last 30 or so seconds of the game in case u want to watch them. That recording is saved as replay.rep in the gta user files folder. You only go into the user files foler if you want to send those last 30 seconds(replay.rep) of your game to somebody else so HE can record them with fraps. This is done,as i said, when somebody else is editing a vid and you want to submit some stunts.
