What laptop?
« on: April 18, 2015, 04:11:51 PM »
I'm thinking about buying a laptop. My budget is around 900-1000$. What would be most suitable for GTAV or gaming in general?

Look for the higher tier MSI and Gigabyte laptops. Great bang for buck. A dual core is pretty much minimum but for a higher budget like that, most laptops either have a high end i5 or medium end i7, along with at least an 860M. This should be enough. They also have SSDs and such.

I run V on my laptop. I can run the game is semi-high/high medium settings with no issues at about 30-40 FPS. I paid $900 (new $1,400) for mine and I'm happy with it. However, If I had been thinking more about V for PC, I would have bought a nice desktop with more power for that $900, then I could run V in that 4k HD @ 60 FPS. I'm happy, but I could have been happier. Desktop  :cc_detective:

If it has to be a laptop, make sure it's at least an i5 (or higher end AMD) with a 1gb video card (2gb obviously would be recommended, but I have 1gb and it's fine.) 8gb RAM. You can get a nice gaming laptop new for around $800 to start. I got mine on craigslist and saved about $500, and it was bran new condition with a leather carrying bag.

Also, I recommend windows 7 instead of 8.

I'm using laptop at the moment and I can run V in 60 fps but not with the maximum settings. Well I wish I could run Max settings and experience the PC greatness but my focus was stunts anyways. :D

Running V on laptop, i5 4200m, Nvidia GT 740m and 4gb of ram (which I'm gonna upgrade soon to 8 ), a bit of overclocking and the game runs like dream (40-60 fps)  :)

I'm on laptop, i7 4700mq , Nvidia GT 750m 8gb ram. I must be getting 60 fps then. I run fraps and it stays locked at 30 so idk what I'm actually getting. If your laptop runs like a dream, then mine should too. Everything seems smooth to me I guess :p
