3,98gb Importing

Vegas 7 seems to be really picky about which clips can be imported. I got a few 3,98gb clips of CS:S with a friend and for some reason some cannot be imported and everything freezes while others get imported in just 1 second. They are all the same 3,98gb (the max size of a fraps clip). The lengths are random but it has nothing to do with that. A 2:02 long clip cannot be imported while 2:38 clip can... Any tips/help? Compression methods maybe?
