Help please (vegas+avi)
« on: July 24, 2011, 02:05:39 AM »
Hey guys. I've got 2 problems.

1. My Sony Vegas just doesn't start anymore, I have no idea why. I don't get any error message or something, it just doesn't start..

2. I can't play Avi files anymore...I already re-installed the K-Lite codec pack. Still doesn't work.
Media Player Classic gives me this message:

No, I didn't do anything. Haven't even started it for about a week or even longer.

Looks like you need new DirectShow decoders.

Install these.
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Haali_Matroska_Splitter.htm
http://codecs.com/download/FFDShow.htm

http://www.free-codecs.com/Media_Player_Classic_download.htm
Download and open MPC, press O when MPC is open and disable these internal filters.
AVI
DirectShow Media
MPEG Audio

Then open a .avi file in MPC and right click in the video window and check which filters are loaded.
The "Default DirectSound Device" and the full path to the file is always there so discard them.

Then use this tool to lower those filters preference rate and if possible raise Vegas's filter preference rate.

I see some render and codec problems.
If you don't reinstall Vegas, don't complain.
