Prevent it from crashing
« on: March 09, 2011, 01:06:36 PM »
I have HUGE problems rendering anything after upgrading my PC. I have more RAM and better processor now but also a new system - windows 7. Back on XP everything worked just fine even with big ammounts of blur. Now i can't render anything above 30sec without few tries (usually i can't do it at all). I use 720p settings so it's not too good. I don't use blur. The problem occures when I use more than 2-3effects on one clip. But those are not some plugin effects but simple tv simulator with some cc. It makes me crazy because i can edit 2 min clip just to realize i won't be able to actually render it.

What might be the problem and most of all what is the solution?!

What error message do you recieve? What Vegas version do you have? Which format with which settings do you try to encode? With how much FPS did you record? Did you work with multiple layers?

Possible solutions which spontaneously pop into my mind ...

Try to raise the amount here to the max - Options / Preferences / Video (tab) / Dynamic RAM Preview
You might also try rendering with video preview disabled.
Also have an eye on your system's performance in the task manager while rendering.
Go to - 'Project Media' and click once on the yellow thunder in the upper left corner.

I not always recieve error message. Usually SV just stops working and windows error pops up or vegas just closes itself without any warrning in a middle of rendering. I recorded everything on 30 fps and try to render it with 1280x720 6M .wmv. I use Vegas Pro 8. And yes i did use multiply layers and that's what i think causes the problem. I have 7 layers but i had 8, deleted one.

I will try your advices. I think this might be this RAM thing. I have set 128 out of 1024 possible. Will try 900 this time.
